A transgender performer who survived a group assault a month ago, an attack that went viral on social media, was fatally shot this weekend, Texas police said.
Dallas police found Cashmere lying face down in the street early Saturday morning, officials said at Sunday a press conference. They have no leads in the case.
“We recognize that hate crimes, if you will, are a serious topic,” said Assistant Chief Avery Moore. “We at the Dallas Police Department take them serious.”
