I started this article out because I love statistics. I was going to write this report about the winners of the last five years. To do this I started to gather information on who won over the last 5 years. What I didn’t expect however what so find a glaring pattern in award winners. So when the obvious pattern emerged I decided to dig a big deeper and include not only AVN Award winners but to add in XBIZ award winners as well and see what comes up. First take a look at the AVN award winners … see anything that stands out?
AVN Female Performer of the Year
- 2016 – Riley Reid (Spiegler)
- 2015 – Anikka Albrite (Spiegler)
- 2014 – Bonnie Rotten (Spiegler)
- 2013 – Asa Akira (Spiegler)
- 2012 – Bobbi Starr (Spiegler)
There are roughly 16 LA licensed agents right now. What are the odds that out of the 16 or so legit agents in the business, every single winner for the last 5 years comes from one single agent?
The odds for something like that occurring 5 years in a row have to be astronomical, right? So I thought well it could just be a crazy coincidence and to find out, I decided to add in another category – the other most important performer category – best new starlet.
AVN Best New Starlet
- 2016 – Abella Danger (Spiegler)
- 2015 – Carter Cruise (Spiegler)
- 2014 – Mia Malkova (Matrix Models)
- 2013 – Remy LaCroix (Spiegler)
- 2012 – Brooklyn Lee (Spiegler)
In this important performer category, Spiegler girls won 4 out of 5 years. Again the odds of this happening are huge. I mean come on …. out of 16 agents, one wins every single time for 5 years in a row and 4 out of 5 times in the other category?
Something just seems off there, no? So let’s take a look over at XBIZ. These are the winners of the XBIZ Awards for the last 5 years. Same pattern emerges …
XBIZ Female Performer of the Year
- 2016 – Dani Daniels (OC Modeling)
- 2015 – Anikka Albrite (Spiegler)
- 2014 – Riley Reid (Spiegler)
- 2013 – Brooklyn Lee (Spiegler)
- 2012 – Asa Akira (Spiegler)
XBIZ Best New Starlet
- 2016 – Abella Danger (Spiegler)
- 2015 – Carter Cruise (Spiegler)
- 2014 – Christy Mack (101 Modeling)
- 2013 – Riley Reid (Spiegler)
- 2012 – Jessie Andrews (Spiegler)
Awards season is my absolute favorite time of the year. Besides the obvious marketing advantage to award nominations there is also the fun of getting ready for the shows and getting to see what everyone is wearing. Red carpet is just absolutely the best.
I’ve always said that it really doesn’t matter if you win or not because just the nomination is enough to get some great mileage out of for marketing purposes. But then again I’m also not a porn star. When it comes to being a porn star, you want that win because it can mean great things for your career and your rates. If you win an award like this, your rates suddenly go up and more opportunities suddenly become available to you. I mean come on, who doesn’t want to work with the female performer of the year?
I’m horrible at math but even common sense will tell you that the odds that the same agent has the winner porn star every year in a row for 5 years running is high. Lucky for me I found a guy from Ireland who has a PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics, as well as a degree in Theoretical Physics who was a particle physicist at CERN and current math teacher, who helped me calculate these odds.
Here is what he had to say …
Assuming that each agent has an equal likelihood of being chosen each year, the probability of the same agent being chosen all five years is 1 in 1,048,576.
Those are some crazy odds that a Spiegler girl would win 5 years in a row …. 1 in a million chance and yet it happened! Can you believe it?
