Pornography ‘does not affect young people’s behavior’
By ANI | ANI –
New York Porn stars may feel gratified, as a new study suggests that pornography’s effects on young people may be minimal.

The study did not show a direct correlation between viewing porn and going out and attempting wild sex acts in real life, suggesting porn is only one factor among many that may influence the sexual behaviors of young people, according to Time.com.

Researchers in the Netherlands conducted an online survey of 4,600 people between ages 15-25 and discovered that 90 percent of the males and nearly half of females had used porn in the previous 12 months.

Dana Vespoli, a performer and director with Sweetheart Video and Evil Angel, said the study demonstrates that blaming porn for society’s ills is silly.

“The idea that pornography in and of itself causes problematic sexual behavior is absurd in the same way that listening to Marilyn Manson doesn’t turn you into a serial killer or watching Michael Bay movies doesn’t turn you into a pyromaniac,” she told The Huffington Post.

The findings have also stirred the hearts of actresses like Nina Hartley, who is also a registered nurse.

She believes that science is catching up with what she has discovered in her work.

“In my 30-year career as an adult entertainer and advocate for sexual literacy, it’s nice to see an article about pornography’s influence on behavior going beyond the usual, ‘Porn: Threat or Menace?’ trope usually seen in media discussions on this topic,” Hartley said.

“Adult entertainment is just one factor in the socialization of young adults and my experience with consumers tells me that it’s a positive in their lives,” she said.

The study is published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. (ANI)

  1. Saw this article recently, even saw an interview with Tasha Reign who provided her own thoughts on the subject. Porn for me is a way to relax and enjoy myself. Well it’s also a source of income through my blog 🙂

What I think… Watching lots of porno and browsing through nudie pics for my blog hasn’t turned me into a sexual deviant. It doesn’t make me think any lesser of women either. I 100% respect the girls involved in porn. Hell, just recently I was talking with a friend about how I was hesitant to use the word “sluts” in the domain name for my new blog. I find it a bit demeaning… The pornography corrupts spiel is just as silly as the old crap about Mortal Kombat turning young people into killers…totally ridiculous. Sure, I liked to beat people up as Sub Zero when I was a kid, but I didn’t go into school the next day reenacting the game.

  2. VamosNicholas: The religious right thinks video game violence causes harm because they can’t separate fantasy from reality.

But I’m afraid we covered this topic already. Lyndon Johnson and Nixon’s report for the Commission on Obscenity and Pornography said the same thing over 40 years ago – funded and published (but then retracted) by the united states federal government.
