The New Normal – Women in Adult

Los Angeles, CA (January 3, 2013) – Sociologist Chauntelle Tibbals is pleased to announce “The New Normal – Women in Adult,” a seminar exploring women’s occupational diversity in porn. The event will take place during this year’s Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) and Adult Novelty Expo (ANE) on Friday January 18, 2013 at 11:30 AM.

2013 marks the second year that “Dr. Chauntelle” has organized and moderated a panel of this nature for AEE/ANE.

“For decades, myths and misconceptions have shaped popular, and even intra-industry, understandings of women’s participation in the adult business,” said Tibbals, a Visiting Scholar at the University of Southern California (USC). “From content production and distribution to novelties and retail, I’m excited to explore women’s leadership and innovations in adult at AEE and ANE… again!”

This year’s participants include Bonnie Feingold of Honey’s Place, Angie Rowntree of Shhh.com, New Sensations’ Jacky St. James, cam model Natalie Star, TS performer Wendy Summers, and performer, director, and publicist Tanya Tate.

Tibbals elaborated: “Just like last year, the 2013 panelists highlight occupational range found amongst women in the adult industry. And though it’s not possible to get every corner of the business on a six-person panel, these women speak to the depth and diversity present in porn.”

The event will incorporate Q&A and lively discussion as women leaders share their experiences working in adult, highlighting the challenges, advantages, adventures, and quirks of the world’s most interesting business. Those interested in submitting general questions for the panel’s consideration may email Dr. Chauntelle at chauntelle.anne.tibbals@gmail.com.
