NL- Does Porn Harm? I believe in some cases, girls are harmed because of manipulative scumbags who lure them in and threaten them so they are afraid to get out. Don’t believe me? And the scumbags who commit this are also in all kinds of businesses. Smart adult savvy women who get in any kind of business will probably do just fine, because they are confident enough to stand up for themselves. In reality you can get "harmed" (manipulated, threatened) in any business setting. It’s not right, people who do it should be punished. But we can’t close down every business that has these problems. And Porn is not actually what is causing the harm. The harm is caused by the scumbags who commit these crimes. Let me give you one of a million examples.

So here is proof that a scumbag held a child captive and forced her to convert to a different religion. Did he cause harm? He certainly did. Should we outlaw all religions? (I probably shouldn’t answer that question, lol) So who wants to do a forum/chat on how religion harms and what we can do to stop it? LMK I’m game.
Of course whether you agree with Shelley or not, and these days I don’t, her’s is sure to be a lively debate.

He was the one who got Shelley hooked on meth. Was that part of G-d’s call too?
Lubben has unintentionally given me the greatest lead-in and plug for Episode 3 of The Devil and Shelley Lubben, which covers all of this nonsense.
“Garrett and Shelley are currently attending school full time” Full time? What, did Gary quit his job? Who’s running Pink Cross if she’s in school “full time”?
Are these degrees from an accredited university, or merely the same diploma mill (Vision International University) from which Shelley purchased her Bachelor’s degree? If it is indeed an online college, are they really “attending”?
And wouldn’t it have been awesome if Shelley and Garrett had thought of getting degrees in counseling BEFORE they opened up their illegal, unlicensed (and thankfully short-lived) “Recovery Home” last year?
I love Shelley’s use of the word “MANY”. Define Many. Thousands of people work in porn and a very tiny % of them find themselves in undesirable positions (forced) and she calls it many.
She uses MANY the way businesses misuse the word FREE. FREE credit report (when you sign up for a year of credit service at $40 a month). Or 4 DVDs FREE (when you buy 6 more at regular club prices of $29.99 plus S&H).
Don’t confuse her with logic — she’s got lip plumper to pay for.

I also wanted to add, I thought it was savvy of Cindi to reference the Kaylee Hays issue to this posting – I noticed that the women “recruited” by the man Kaylee dealt with of “JGmodels” have consistently been routed to more established agents…I wrote a post on this matter last night on PornNewsToday…
Where I feel that “harm” may come in, is that the models routed via JGmodels (which appear to be recruited from mainstream venues such as Model Mayhem) may wind up with more than they bargained for initially when it comes to finding themselves with agents such a LaDirectModels being that so many of their roster appear to work overtime with TheLuxuryCompanion (the situations of which models are booked via that site I’d say could wind up being harmful). I’m not saying once you sign up with LAdirect you automatically are on TheLuxuryCompanion…but the comparison between the 2 rosters speaks for itself.
Again, when you have so many PEOPLE in an industry, throwing the naive into harm’s way – what DO you do?
Ideally start over with PEOPLE who don’t harm I suppose…or people from an earlier generation of porn such as Nick East (who have been harmed as of recent by porn professionals who think it’s OK to post his phone number on CL) who have some wonderful ideas as to how to make the porn industry a more professional and safe workplace 🙂

Other than that, as I said, porn doesn’t harm people, people do. Look at our domestic and foreign policy and politicians being whores to coporations and shadowy Godfathers while the world gets raped. Lubben’s Porn Harms web discussions were unmitigated disasters. These were international events, but she topped out at 30 or 31 viewers/participants each day — and among those viewers were myself, Lubben’s parents and brother (who oppose her use of a fictionalized account of her life), sex worker advocate/blogger Christina Page, and other opponents of Lubben from Facebook.
On the pro Lubben side, she called out Jan Meza the Buffet Killer, Heather “Hollywood” Jaborski, and a-hole broadcaster (and hypocrite) Mace Ravenwolf, and she was also joined by Morality In Media/Porn Harms’ own Patrick Trueman and Dawn Hawkins.
After the cheering sections are subtracted from the total, it becomes painfully obvious that Lubben can no longer draw any kind of audience.
Shelley’s own brother led the charge against her both days on the chat, although Hawkins, Ravenwolf and I got into it as well. As usual, Shelley only fielded softball questions from her cheering section, and ignored every real question. In fact, most questions on the chat were related to her credibility.
Did porn make this guy crazy, too? Oh nevermind the time years before he got into porn when he threatened to kill his college professor.

Sierra Sinn did an interview with Michael Whiteacre in which she admits being a tool of Shelley Lubben, that she misses the porn business and is looking forward to coming back to LA as soon as possible.

According to Sinn, who’s currently living in Pennsylvania, Lubben canvassed her on MySpace [Eve Laurence and Taryn Thomas were approached similarly]. Lubben told her about an MTV reality series that could help her out financially if she wanted to get out of porn.
According to Sinn who eventually wised up, Lubben was merely using her during a moment of weakness, and after Lubben was done “employing” her as the organ grinder’s monkey, she flipped her off and pushed her aside.
The MTV project, likewise, never came to fruition. Sinn says she never met anyone from MTV only Lubben showing up at her North Hollywood apartment with “some random guy with her with a video camera. I think it was just one of her Christian people.”
Sinn goes on to say that she had been dating a director/producer in the industry. I believe that was Skeeter Kerkove.
“Shit went weird with him,” states Sinn.
“It was insane. I felt like he set me up to be in a crazy scene that was beyond what I was able to do. They never released that scene, but it scared me and it turned me off, and I felt like I went into a downward spiral. At the end of it was Shelley, with her arms open wide [laughs] luring me into her world.”
According to Sinn, Lubben is predatory.
“The fact that she doesn’t go for the girls like Belladonna or Jesse Jane – she doesn’t go for the ones in their high times, she goes for the ones that she sees, from their MySpace posts or whatever, that they’re not feeling it. She preys on them and gets them while they’re weak and tries to manipulate them. Honestly, I feel more used and tossed aside by her than I ever did from the porn industry.”
According to Sinn who became a tool of the Lubben propaganda machine, she was to do a series of video interviews and talk about “the rough stuff that happened, and the STDs; focusing on the negative.
“She never wanted to talk about money or anything positive about it, or even parties and fun times that we had,” Sinn continues.
“It was always focusing on the negative, like, ‘Tell us about how you caught gonorrhea. Talk about your first scene and how you didn’t like that.’ She wanted me to focus on things that were not perfect.”
Sinn said she was mad at the time, mad at some people, was hurt, and thus obliged Lubben.
But at no time was Sinn ever informed that Lubben was putting the videos on YouTube.
“I was told they were promotional videos for trying to get a show, a reality show. She told me TLC, MTV, and BRAVO – she was always “shopping around” our reality show.”
“She wanted to get a reality show and she needed to ‘pitch’ it with something — like she was taking all these little videos of the girls and she was going to put it in some show, like showing us in a reality show setting… getting out. And that I was down for. And the next thing I know she’s burning me up on the internet.”
In the end, all the Lubben promises of financial assistance wound up being a box of items she gave Sinn from the 99 Cent Store.
Once Sinn moved back to Pennsylvania, Lubben ceased contacting her.
When Sinn got laid off from a credit card processing job, she called Lubben, “Hey, I kinda need some help, I’m having trouble getting by week to week. I’m looking for another job, but in the meantime I need some help.”
“All I got back was the auto-response emails, like, ‘If you’re a porn star in need make sure you get in touch with us.’ ”
“I emailed a couple more times, and finally I got something back from one of her assistants telling me that Shelley was super-busy with her book, and that she wishes me well. Too busy with her book? She wasn’t too busy to put me out there…”
When Sinn looks back at her old movies she says she looks happy.
“It’s funny, I looked happier then than now. I miss it, I miss porno, honestly. I hope I can come back because I feel right now that she kind of ruined my life and I really wanna stick it to her.”

Shelly needs to run for a political office in Kern county and do something more worthwhile then “fuck” with the fledging LA porn scene. Its pretty much done in LA and moved to South of the border and other locations at cost to the Porn investors to stay away from LA.
