BASEBALL

NL- . I know that the world series is coming up, and when i was really small, I remember listening to baseball while I was falling asleep for my nap. My grandfather loved the Yankees, and Phil Rizzutto and Ballentine Beer. More than thirty years later, I can still hear Rizzuto’s voice calling the game.  I don’t really follow sports much, but the world series, and baseball have a warm place in my heart because of those memories.

So who do you think it’s going to be against the Texas Rangers? St. Louis Cardinals? or Milwaukee Brewers?  And who do you want to win? I really don’t care either way. I just wish Phil Rizzutto was around to call the game  🙂

FOOTBALL

NL- I’m afraid my knowledge of football is even less than baseball. I watch the Superbowl for the commercials! But again to the childhood memories, I was born rooting for the Minnesota Vikings. My mother knew Fran Tarkington somehow, so that was THE team in our house. But because I know you guys like sports I figured I’d give you a thread to talk about it on. I just took a look at where the superbowl will be held this year and it’s Feb 5 in Indianapolis. Tickets available start at $1955 a seat! I’ve got a couple of very special friends, (like Sean) that like football, so I know they are watching it today.

(Because of my friends who like the game so much,  I keep an eye on the Chargers for Raven, even though they aren’t playing today & whatever team Tay is betting on! lol)

I’ve heard Rizzuto say “Holy Cow!” enough times in my lifetime, it’s like he’s never left.

It’s amazing, both the Cards and Rays were 8 1/2 games out of the wild card on September 1st. I like St. Louis with the acquisition of Furcal from L.A., Pujols, Burkman, Holliday, etc and am rooting for them to go all the way. But can their starters shut down Texas’ offense like Frisco did last year? Nolan Ryan and the fans in Arlington sure had a bunch frumpy faces while losing last year. They looked like spoiled brats. This regular season is in the past, just like last season is. As Carpenter said, they got nothing to lose, and they’re going all out.

Remember, the American League was considered to be better than the National league, but who got shut down in the All Star game?

Btw, I look forward to watching the Dodgers next year. They ended the season very well the last couple of months.

As for Football, good game by the Giants, today. And why the fuck are the Rams, since they moved to St. Louis, still in the “West” league?

I’ve always been a Giants fan (NY & SF), have never been a Rangers fan (NY & TX – I’m from the Island so was an Islanders, then later, a Devils fan), but these days, players and coaches are here, there, everywhere.

I’ve seen some classic photos of Rangers players having a bad moment with the “r” and “s” of their jersey obscured from view, so that all you see is the word “anger”. lol. Too bad the MLB team changed the jersey to Texas.

I hate these stupid umps. Pujols was safe at home. Tie goes to the runner, but Al clearly beat him on instant replay. They need that shit for baseball. Fuck these umps fucking up the game. It should be 5-0 first inning, not 4-0.,, whoops, I mean 4-1, lead off homer for Brewers. And what’s up with Milwaukee changing their clever m.b. logo shaped like a glove to that lame “M”? Fucking Brewers execs drinking too much fucking lousy American beer!
