2012 XBIZ Awards Categories, Pre-Nom Dates Announced

LOS ANGELES — XBIZ is pleased to announce the official awards categories and pre-nomination dates for adult entertainment’s biggest industry awards show, the 10th annual XBIZ Awards to be held on Jan. 10, 2012, in Hollywood, Calif.
Several new award categories have been added for the 2012 show in an effort to be more inclusive of previously unrecognized market segments and in response to feedback from members of the adult entertainment industry.
In the Adult Video field, the new categories include outstanding achievements for Supporting Acting Performances, All-Girl Release and Series of the Year, Couples-Themed Release and Series, and Black, Latin and Asian-Themed Release and Series of the Year, among others.
In the Web/Tech field, new categories include two Adult Site of the Year categories, Mobile Site of the Year, Blog Site of the Year and European Billing Company of the Year, among others.
In the Novelty sector, new categories for 2012 include Male Pleasure Product of the Year, Adult Star Branded Pleasure Product of the Year, Sexual Supplement Company of the Year and more.
Winners will be announced at the highly anticipated ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 10.
“We are planning our grandest night of festivities to date as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the XBIZ Awards and honor the best of the best,” said Alec Helmy, president and publisher of XBIZ. “We encourage everyone in the adult industry community to participate in the pre-nominations and call our attention to the most notable works of the past year.”
The first phase of the pre-nominations launching Sept. 1 will encompass the Video, Novelty and Retail sectors of the industry. The Web/Tech pre-nominations will start with a special advance period during the XBIZ EU conference Sept. 23-25 in London. Web/Tech pre-nom submissions will open industry-wide on Sept. 26.
To submit pre-nominations in any of the awards categories, industry professionals must be registered members of the XBIZ.net social network and use the online submission form to record their entries. With a user base approaching 6,000 XBIZ.net industry professionals, record pre-nomination submissions are projected.
The deadline for all 2012 XBIZ Awards pre-nominations is midnight on Friday, Oct. 21.
In order to be eligible for consideration for a 2012 XBIZ Award, video and novelty products must be released between Nov. 1, 2010, and Oct. 21, 2011.

The 10th anniversary XBIZ Awards will highlight a week of industry-leading business events that include digital media conference XBIZ LA (Jan. 9-11) and XBIZ Retail Expo & Conference (Jan. 9-10). XBIZ LA will return to the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles, while XBIZ Retail will be held at the Burbank Marriott hotel immediately following ANME.
