Lara Logan’s First Interview Since Being Attacked in Egypt
By Chris O’Shea from http://www.mediabistro.com
In early February, CBS News Correspondent Lara Logan was sexually assaulted by a mob while covering the uprising in Egypt. Today, for the first time since the incident, she discussed details about the tragedy and the hope that the situation doesn’t end up defining her.
Logan tells the New York Times that the mob overtook her and her crew quickly, and “for an extended period of time, they raped me with their hands.” She explains that as the crowd tore off her clothes, they only became more ruthless:
What really struck me was how merciless they were. They really enjoyed my pain and suffering. It incited them to more violence.
However, somehow through all of the trauma, Logan immediately decided to speak up about what happened, so that it might help other female journalists who have been sexually assaulted come forward.
