Vivid Will Put Out Movie, Despite Legal Threats, But Boxcover Changes

Studio Says It Is Comfortable It Has Legal Right to Sell Movie
 
LOS ANGELES – (December 21, 2010) – Vivid Entertainment will release the highly controversial sex tape "Brittney Jones Confidential" on Wednesday, Dec. 29th to stores nationwide.
 
Vivid has also announced that a steamy R-rated trailer of the movie will be available starting today at www.vivid.com.

Brittney Jones is the beautiful 21-year-old brunette who made headlines earlier this year for her brief affair with a very married Hollywood celebrity superstar.  The movie, acquired from a third party, centers on the sexual exploits of Jones with a former boyfriend.
 
Steven Hirsch, founder/co-chairman of Vivid, received a cease and desist letter from Jones’ attorney Richard Sherman after the studio announced it had acquired the tape.
 
Hirsch requested a meeting with Jones to try and work out terms of a settlement, and the two met at a Hollywood coffee shop last week. Following the meeting Hirsch said he thought there was a possibility that he and Jones could work things out and that she would participate in the marketing of the DVD, but since then he hasn’t heard from her so he has decided to move forward with distribution.
 
Meanwhile, Hirsch also received a separate cease and desist letter from the high profile celebrity’s attorney concerning the tape.  Vivid denied the claims asserted by the superstar’s attorney, but after internal discussions and consulting with counsel, Vivid decided to move forward without using the A-lister’s actual name in connection with the sex tape.
 
According to reports Jones claims to have met the superstar earlier this year when he and his wife, accompanied by his stepdaughter and her boyfriend, were bowling. Jones was bowling in the next alley at the Hollywood lanes.
 
Jones wound up sitting next to the superstar in a bar area in back of the lanes. She says they flirted with each other and she gave him her phone number.  After later getting texts from the superstar, she met him and drove to his home where she claims they had sex on his sofa.
