Tanya Tate interview by Smut
During the 2010 Exxxotica Expo in Edison, NJ, I chatted with UK porn star Tanya Tate about her highly successful Tanya Tate’s Sex Tour of Ireland. It was a huge hit across the pond that put her on the map and now she’ s making a name for herself in the LA porn scene. After winning MILF awards in America (from Nightmoves Adult Entertainment Awards) and her home country of England (from the SHAFTA Awards), it seems the skies the limit for this sexy bird from Liverpool, England.
Smut: How did you get into porn?
Tanya: In 2008 I had just finished a relationship and I was really bored. I was working in an office and started hanging out with this guy. We watched a movie and I started thinking “Hey I can do this.” So I decided to do some online research. Had some pictures taken and once I signed the model release I knew I couldn’t change my mind. I figured it’s likely my family would find out, but I decided to do it. So I sent the emails & pictures off to the production office and they liked me. They then invited me down to London for an interview. It went from there and then they shot me.
Smut: Was it softcore or hardcore?
Tanya: I went right into hardcore porn.
Smut: Don’t they censor hardcore porn over there?
Tanya: On UK television, it’s softcore and it’s subscription, but even though it’s an adult channel and you pay extra to get it, it’s still softcore. They don’t show hardcore, but then it’s hardcore on the dvds. Did you know about my sex tape tour of Ireland?
Smut: Yeah, I can almost hear some Irish in your accent.
Tanya: Well, I’m from Liverpool and it’s right across the water from Ireland. I’ve had other people say that I sound Irish, but I think it’s more of a Liverpool accent, because there’s a lot of similarities.
Smut: Cool, so tell me about the sex tour.
Tanya: I went around Ireland with a camera crew and cameraman on a motorbike and met some of my fans for the first time and had sex with them on camera. I went around and selected everybody personally. They were every day guys who aren’t in the porn industry. I did an interview with a small magazine and when they ran the story it became international and was picked up by the newspapers. It was very popular and the Irish press found out that one of the guys, unbeknown to me was a professional athlete. And it became front-page news all over Ireland, so that was great for me. What was kind of weird about the Tour and all these guys having sex on camera is that that Ireland was given a platform to talk about sex. All the UK producers have nominated me as the best sex star.
Smut: So you must be really big over there?
Tanya: Yeah, I am the biggest porn star in Ireland. I’m also really really popular in England.
