Zero Tolerance Adult Psycho Thriller Sanatorium Sizzles with Original Soundtrack
A Q&A with Former Guns N’ Roses member Teddy Andreadis and Kiochi Fukada of Static X
September 20, 2010, Los Angeles, CA – Adult psycho thriller Sanatorium starring porn icon Tabitha Stevens released last week and with it, buzz on how this adult movie followed a mainstream protocol – by composing an original soundtrack. Sanatorium a twisted, mesmerizing story about an iconic adult superstar discovering the dark secret world of deviants occupied by Senators, Lawyers, Priests and other do-gooders, whose public personas as anti-porn crusaders are in direct opposition of their wicked lives behind closed doors. Here is a Q&A with Guns N’ Roses member Teddy Andreadis and Static X’s Kiochi Fukada who composed the soundtrack for Sanatorium.
Q: What was it like scoring tracks for Sanatorium?
Ted: It was a very interesting yet very enjoyable project. I really love the movie and found myself really exploring sounds and textures that would really lend itself to the film.
Kiochi: I always enjoy working on music for films/visuals; the music/sound effects can make whatever the emotions that are intended to be expressed in a piece come alive.
Q: Were you watching the film while you were scoring the soundtrack to get an idea of how dark the music needed to be?
Ted: Yes. I found myself coming up with two and three alternative parts for each scene.
Kiochi: Yes, I always watch the film when I’m working on the soundtrack so I can understand and feel the mood for each scene; the music is inspired by the visuals and the stories.
Q: Please list the bands that you have performed in (the studio as well as live)
Ted: Ok here goes. Guns & Roses, Alice Cooper, Roger Daltry, Beth Hart, Billy Bob Thornton, Bruce Willis, Carole King, Gilby Clark, Slash, Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad,) Glen Hughes, LA GUNNS, Big Noize, Slash’s Bluz Ball, Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Ace Freeley, Boxing Gandhis touring with Dave Mattews Band, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer, Simon Kirk, Alan White, and Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp Band MD.
Kiochi: Static-X, OTEP, KMFDM, Drugstore Fanatics, Mephisto Odyssey, Revolve.
Q: Do you feel that it is important that even a high budget ‘Adult Film’ should have a unique and original soundtrack? Why?
Ted: Because it is a film, period! Music plays a huge part in any film. I think the more unique the music, the more interesting the film.
Kiochi: It depends whether it is purposeful. There are so many videos/films of all quality and budget levels being made by all kinds of people with all levels of skills. If anybody intends to produce something that stands out among them and especially if the focus is on the art direction it is highly effective to have a unique and original soundtrack.
Q: What was it like working with porn star Tabitha Stevens and writer/producer/director Gary Orona? Was your experience with them professional?
Ted: Tab and Gary are truly a joy to work with. They both love what they do and it comes across in the work. I hope I can have the opportunity to work with them again soon. They both allowed me a little freedom to create what I thought would fit. And of course, when it didn’t work we changed it. Really a great experience!
Kiochi: It was a pleasure to work with them. They are not only very professional, but have the passion for what they do.
Q: Do you think that there will be more original soundtracks being made for adult films? Do you think that Tabitha and Gary have helped open the door for other adult companies to have creative and original soundtracks made?
Ted: Yes of course. There are a lot of very talented music people out there who would love the opportunity to create something original. Myself, I’m always more interested in a film when the music is unique to the film. It always keeps my attention and makes me stay to read the credits. I know a lot of films have small budgets and choose canned music over live recorded stuff, but I think that if more companies used original compositions there would be a treasure chest of stuff to pick from. Just gotta find it!!
Kiochi: I don’t have much knowledge as to how ‘adult companies’ decide what to produce, but hopefully this film will inspire others to think outside of the box.

Man oh man, did anybody on this board see what happened last month during Guns N’ Roses’ concert in Dublin, Ireland? They showed up on the stage 90 minutes late, and after some people among the angry audience threw bottles at the, they walked off the stage. Then they tried to leave the venue, but the concert promoters prevented them and threatened the band with legal action, and it took another hour to convince them to get back on the stage and play. By then half of the crowd had left. It was the biggest Guns N’ Roses live fuck up to this date. I don’t know how will they salvage their reputation after this incident, and that’s unfortunate, because Guns N’ Roses are truly a good band.

Was this the show where Axl overslept? I heard that no one can interrupt Axl, even when he’s supposed to be on stage. Axl reminds me of Don Henley, there is no band without them, but they’re both such assholes that no one wants to work with them. Henley should be grateful to those guys forever cause they kept him out of the joint after that situation with the teenage girls and one o’d.
Guns N Roses of today is not even a shell of the REAL Guns N Roses.
Today, Axl, who cant hit any notes from his old songs, cant get away with crap like showing up late. That shit just dont fly anymore. 20 years ago, yes. Today…NO.
