This movie was nothing that I expected it to be, nor was it the kind of movie I would usually watch. Lots of folks are saying that they were thrilled just by the music IN the movie which includes he Kinks, The Turtles, Procol Harum, Cat Stevens, The Hollies, The Who, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Cream. Yes the music was good, but the movie was really good.
Basically, A bunch of outsiders start the most popular rock music radio station, on a boat in the middle of the ocean, because what they are doing and playing is illegal in England. I do tend to like freedom fighters who happen to be underdogs, and that’s what this rag tag bunch has going for them.
Although this is a bit of "feel good" movie which might throw some of you off, it makes a lot of political statements, and shows a time when the outlaws were the good guys. From start to finish, attention grabbing, intriguing, funny, insightful and silly. There is even a "you are NOT the father" part that makes you laugh. Overall a movie everyone should see, whether they were around in the 70’s or not.
Oh and watch the extras, the deleted scenes are almost as long as the movie…
If you saw this, let me know what you thought…
