How does it feel to win the CAVR director of the year?
This is the second straight year I have won the CAVR award for Director of the Year so it makes me feel pretty certain that the first one wasn’t a clerical error. It really is a great honor to be recognized with something like this and I just hope it gets me laid. I have to thank Den and his calculator.
How does it feel to win the XCritic Director of the year?
These two awards for Director of the Year came to me on the same day so it was a little overwhelming but I hope this is sort of like when somebody wins at the Golden Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and then at the Screen Actors Guild it gives them reason to think they will win an Oscar. Vegas is coming and so is XBiz but there is no way to really know what will be in store for us once we get to that oasis in the desert and to the big XBiz event in February in Hollywood.
Do you think you will win Xbiz & AVN Director of the year?
I sure hope that I do. Last year I really didn’t think I had a chance to win and when I won the XBiz Director of the Year Award I was in the bar ordering a beer and I missed it. There was no way I thought that I would win and if I had known I had a real chance to win- remember Pirates 2 was out that year, I would have brought a cute date so I looked better in the photos. I was dateless, standing there with a beer in my hand when Steve Javors of XBiz ran up to me screaming, “We’ve been looking all over for you.” I’m right here man getting a beer! It was really funny that I reach such a wonderful height in my career only to miss it. If I’m lucky enough to win again I won’t miss it but I really think it might mean even more to me now after making the type of movies we created this past year.
What will winning these awards do for you?
That is a great question because I thought winning director of the year would help me get more mainstream projects but my agent told me the other day that we can’t mention it at all at least not for a little while. My entire marketing strategy was based on X-Play’s success over the past couple of years and zip it’s all gone almost like it is erased when you deal with Hollywood. As a matter of fact I have a brand new directing name that I am using as to not kill my changes of success before we get our first successful show completed and transacted. I think it is all pretty strange because I’m really proud of what we’ve accomplished in the adult movie business but this proves that the mainstream industry is still petrified of being tied to porn. I love being tied to porn but I want both especially now at this point in my career. I think we might surprise some people in the next couple of years so watch out.
The truth is that I guess I never really thought that I would be able to climb this tree and accomplish so much in the adult movie business. In Vegas I will look around at all the industry veterans and people that I admire and just feel lucky to be with them walking the red carpet with a beer in my hand and a cute date on my arm.
