Alabama Supreme Court Upholds Anti-Masturbation Law

The Alabama Supreme Court has upheld a state statute prohibiting masturbation by artificial means. But if the state can protect the right of its citizens to own guns as an important liberty, how is it that devices for masturbation are prohibited?
Alabama considers unlawful the sale of “any device designed—primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs.” The recent decision of the Supreme Court underlines the fact that in a number of states regulation of sexual activities sometimes outweighs regulation of guns.
Arizona is a state that makes adultery a Class 3 misdemeanor. Whether or not people are actually hauled into court isn’t detailed, but the law clearly states that adultery is against the law. On the other hand the state has enacted two new laws actually loosening restrictions on possession of guns according to the Daily Kos. The first one permits gun owners to carry their firearms into bars and restaurants. The second law allows students at the University of Arizona to carry firearms in their cars without requiring them to have concealed weapons permits. This is just one example of how a state regulates sex while relaxing restrictions on guns. But there are other states that that also regulate sex, although there are variations on these regulations.
In the District of Columbia profane and obscene language is against the law. Massachusetts, a state considered by some of be enlightened in many ways, has strict moral codes of its own, loosely defined, for example, as “dissemination or possession of obscene matter: imprisonment not more than 5 years or fine not more than $10,000;272§35, Unnatural and lascivious acts: felony, fine of not more than $1,000 or imprisonment not more than 5 years. The specific of what constitutes obscenity or an unnatural act is left unspecified. One of Wisconsin’s statute 944.17 lists “ Sexual gratification: Class A misdemeanor:” What this is isn’t described in the statute, but could it potentially mean masturbation? I decided to check the Louisiana statute with respect to sexual behavior and regulations pertaining specifically to masturbation. Until 2007 it was illegal to sell sex “toys” or mechanical devices for masturbation or sexual gratification. The Louisiana statute was struck down by the state court according to Fortune magazine in an article written in 2008.
Small, vibrators in a variety of colors are displayed on a shelf in the pharmaceutical area at the local Walgrens in Natchitoches. I asked one of the local clerks about the sales of these devices and whether public reaction has been positive or negative since introduced.
The clerk, unwilling to disclose her name, blushed a bit and declared she hadn’t really kept track but had seen a few ladies buy them. So it appears that in the small town of Natchitoches there are some women who have elected to take advantage of the law that allows freedom of choice, to use a vibrator for sexual satisfaction through masturbation without fear of penalty , so those hands that can be trained to shoot a gun, protected by the Second Amendment, can also use a mechanical device for sexual self-stimulation or masturbation with the same degree of liberty in the State of Louisiana.

The short-sidedness of the lawmakers and most of the citizens in the deep south esp! But not only them. I’ve said it before and I”ll keep on saying it. Deep down certain white men don’t really like women all that well. In fact, they hate them. They don’t think their smart enough to know what to do w/ their bodies when you know what happens.
Basically, their cavemen at heart and wanting to “control” every aspect of a women’s life. I can admit to getting angry at women over the years. In fact, very f’ing mad, but, as men we can be low down and dirty when it comes to the opposite sex. And of course the majority of these women out their have the power of the pussy to get what they want.
And that’s scary for a lot of men. I can’t imagine working w/ these certain women out in Cali, I have no reference but justthesame sometimes we all have to do what we have to do.
Here is OKlahoma you can’t sell porn. In the old days you had to cruise down to TX to get your fix. This was before the days of internet. Hell, just recently they outlawed tattoos and tattoo shops. Once again you would have to go to TX to get one.
Plus as GQtaste mentioned on another post, citizens of ‘red states’ oddly side with the very same politicians and political party (in the case of Alabama, Republican) who would take away the ability to live their lives how they see fit.
Last I checked, Alabama is NOT going to vote overwhelmingly for the Democrat Party, even if the Republicans (who allegedly are all about freedom and liberty) are going to take away their ability to get off using a vibrator.
Funny how the Republicans talk all day long about ‘freedom and liberty’, yet exercising your ‘freedom and liberty’ to use a vibrator is another brick on the road to the total destruction of America…

Basically many Evangelicals scholars say that men are to be some sort of joyless dictators at home. No wonder why Southern divorce or Evangelical divorce is so high compared to the divorce rates of Atheits/Agnostics, Catholics and Lutherans who have the lowest divorce rates in the US. Or why Atheist/Agnostic/Catholic Mass. has one third of the divorce rates of Southern States.

i did’nt do any research on this one, but i use to live in tx. and i believe to this day adult co.’s are prohibitted to sell sex toys thru mail order there. plus, there are certain zip codes who can receive porn videos, lingerie, e.t.c. and other zips can’t.
Pornfan, the sex toy laws were struck down in Texas awhile back by the federal 5th Circuit Court. Some companies still do not ship here out of past practice, but they are not obligated to as a result of the ruling from nearly two years ago. Interestingly, the sex toy laws in question were passed by democrats so those that take exception to the GOP might want to remember neither party is all that friendly to individual freedoms (just as democrats in the People’s Republic of Massachusetts passed all sorts of laws pushing porn and adult businesses out of Boston years ago).
