Pearl Theatre at Palms Hotel named as new home
CHATSWORTH, Calif.—AVN Media Network has announced that the 2010 AVN Awards Show, to take place on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, will be held at the Pearl Concert Theatre inside the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

“The Pearl Concert Theatre is an intimate, state-of-the-art facility,” said Paul Fishbein, president of AVN. “We were looking for something more conducive to a close-up experience, and watching what was done for both the NHL Awards and the MTV Music Video Awards two years ago convinced us that this theater provided an ideal location for the show. There isn’t a bad seat in the house.”

Tickets for the 2010 show go on sale on Oct. 1 and will be available at www.avnawards.com. A dazzling array of parties and special events for that weekend will be announced in the coming weeks.

“The Palms Casino Resort has been a wonderful home for our winter Internext conventions, so we’re excited to further our relationship with that venue,” said Darren Roberts, AVN’s CEO. “We now have greater flexibility in producing the television coverage of the awards, while making the live experience that much better for our attendees.”

“We are thrilled to be the new home of the AVN Awards,” said George Maloof, owner of the Palms Casino Resort. “Moving this show to the Pearl will give guests a more intimate experience than in years past.”

The deadline for products to be included in the 2010 Awards is Sept. 30, 2009. All products must be released into retail locations by that date.

“Soon we’ll announce information about how to enter your products for consideration,” said Dan Miller, executive editor of AVN. “Just as we did last year, there will be a website where people can easily enter their submissions for nomination.”

Also, for the first time ever, AVN will be announcing six Consumer Choice Awards, which will be voted on strictly by the fans.

“Some of these awards are very unique but speak to the heart of what consumers are looking for,” Roberts said. “Having them on the television show will increase consumer interest and awareness for all the titles, products and websites involved.”

In addition, AVN will be announcing some unique and exciting sponsorship opportunities. “The Palms allows us to really target our customers’ needs—and the intimacy of the venue makes for perfect targeted marketing,” said Renee Johnson, senior show manager for AVN. “It’s a great venue where the ROI will be tremendous.”
