I ran a Phone Sex Biz & did a hell of a British Accent

I came across these six year OLD interviews that I did with a couple different people. I don’t remember who they were or what mag or website they were for. I don’t think I ever finished them, nor were they printed anywhere…

March 2003

Brad: so what have you been up to?
Cindi: why do you want to interview me?
B: Because you are an influence in the adult industry and an interesting person.
C: I don’t DO interviews. I INTERVIEW.
B: What are you afraid of. You won’t answer my questions?
C: Yes I will. I am just tired. And I have no idea why you would want to talk to me. I am a nobody.
B: That is not true. You interviewed more than 25 major adult stars this year, and attended all the events. You write a gossip column that is read by 200,000 people. You’re quotes are on box covers and in magazine stories. Can you just talk to me for 15 minutes?
C: I guess so. I really can’t say no because I call people all the time and ask them to talk to me.
B: So that means that you are an obnoxious journalist?
C: I hope not. I try really hard to be nice and accommodating to other people’s schedules.
B: So you never just call anyone out of the blue?
C: Yes I do. But I make it clear that they can  talk to me now or make an appointment to talk to me later. I just talked to Dillion Day. Called him  out of the blue and expected to leave a message, but he answered the phone and we talked for a half an hour. He is very hot looking and a very cool guy.
B: So did he give you any gossip?
C: Yes actually he did tell me some secrets, but he asked that they remain secrets, so they will.
B: Is there a lot of things that stars tell you about, that you don’t talk about?
C: About 90% of what I hear, I can’t mention to the general public.
B: Wow. Wouldn’t you be better off telling all?
C: Maybe I would be better off in my job. But my friends come first and I would never betray their trust. Friends are much more important than a job.
B: Do you like your job?
C: I love my job.
B: Do you want to be famous?
C: No, never. I want to be well known and respected in my industry. I never want someone to recognize me in the grocery store.
B: Do you think that you are a good writer?
C: Yes  I do. I spend so much time and thought and effort on what I do. I think it’s pretty well done. I hope others do too.
B: Did you go to school to be a writer?
C: No actually I went to school to be a lawyer. But by the time undergrad came around I had absolutely changed my mind. I didn’t like the  lawyers I knew ( they were all my professors) and knew that I couldn’t be one of them.
B: So what did you do?
C: I specialized in federal taxation and went to work as a teacher and a branch manager for H& R Block.
B: Did you like that job?
C: Loved it, but it paid shit.

April 2003

•    Lisa- So why did you finally decide to talk to me?
•    Cindi- Well I am starting my own website and I thought a lot of people  wouldn’t even know who I was.
•    L- Okay, why don’t you start by telling us who you are.
•    C- I am Cindi Loftus. I have been a writer for many years. I have been working for Xcitement Magazine for 6 years as a freelancer and the last 4, I have been their full time Head Writer and PR manager.
•    L- So what did you do besides for those 6 years as a a freelancer?
•    C- I worked at H & R Block as a Office Manager and I taught tax prep to adult students.
•    L- Did you like your job there?
•    C- I loved my job. I worked as a branch manager during tax season from jan-april doing returns and helping my employees do returns. Then  from May until August I worked at H & R’s main head quarters doing re-files and paperwork. From August until Nov I taught tax prep to students.
•    L-This is boring. Tell me how you got into porn.
•    C- Well, I had been writing a lot for Xcitement, and I had a bunch of other writing jobs ( most were mainstream) and I was working for H & R. One of my students in a tax class was opening a phone sex business and he wanted me to run it for him. So I finished the tax season and then began my task as an office manager and secretary of the corporation of a phone sex company.
•    L- What were your duties?
•    C- Well I did all the "business stuff", paying bills, designing ads, setting up phone & alarm systems, everything.  I also worked on the phones at first, doing the sex calls. I’m told I have a sexy voice.  I could do  a helluva British or Asian accent when needed. I also seemed to succeed with the dominatrix role, although I liked playing the submissive better, less work. After we built up the business, I didn’t do the phone anymore. I was mainly doing hiring, training, and scheduling. I had a staff of 80 phone sex operators.
•    L- Then you quit?
•    C- I was on a 24 hour / 7 day a week on-call basis and it really got to be too much for me. Xcitement offered me a full time writing job and I took it. That was 4 years ago.
•    L- Has Xcitement been good to you?
•    C- I think it has been an equally beneficial relationship. I love writing for a living and Xcitement needed someone to promote them to the masses. I think I have done that. I have given them an in to the adult porno industry and they have given me a name to stand behind while doing it. Xcitement is an exceptional company. They have given me a lot of freedom and I have given them a lot of name recognition.
•    L- You are at a point where you are quite well known. Would you quit Xcitement and go out on your own?
•    C- I don’t think I am well known. But I also  don’t think that you make a name for your self with a company and then leave them. I am happy with my position with the company. I think I may just be expanding my own personal role.
•    L- There is a rumor that you have a drug problem.
•    C-  I have anxiety attacks and take some pills that are prescribed by a doctor, does that count? I don’t do coke or speed or any illegal drugs. I don’t even smoke pot. I do drink alcohol to excess, but only occasionally. Have you heard the rumor about me being a serial killer too?
