My Christmas was bitter sweet and life changing this year. I found out I was pregnant the day before Christmas, not a planned pregnancy but not an unhappy one. I was excited and very sick, my body has never tolerated pregnancy well, then I got a lot sicker, I couldn’t keep any fluids or food down and ended up in the emergency room last Fri.  There was a heart beat only of 60( half of normal ) and they told me the sac was deformed or deflated. We thought mabye from the dehydration, I was given nausea meds and stayed in bed the whole weekend chugging gatorade.

For the past 2 weeks I had had the feeling something was wrong, I also had a dream that I had a molar pregnancy, and remembered the dream, which I don’t do unless there’s an important message of some sort, or someone who’s dead and wants to say hi.  I went to my OB on monday morning for confirmation of my suspicions, and asked about the possibility of molar pregnancy and that I had a lot of the symptoms, he was shocked I knew what one was, the second ultrasound showed an enlarged placenta and no heartbeat, then a 3rd ultrasound was done for comfirmation.  I had the D  and C today and I have to be monitered for the cancer risk, which I’m worried about, I know lots of women have healthy children after a mole, but I’m still a little worried,

I would like one more if not two, before they take everything out,(which I expected to happen sometime,but not this soon), this has been a big wake up call for me and I think the fat lady has sung in regards to my career in the sex industry. A molar pregnancy is a noncancerous (benign) tumor that develops in the uterus. Molar pregnancy is caused by a fertilization problem. Rather than becoming a viable pregnancy, the placenta develops into a fast-growing mass of cysts (hydatidiform mole).

With a complete molar pregnancy, the uterus contains only abnormal placental tissue. There’s no fetal tissue. With a partial molar pregnancy, the uterus contains abnormal placental tissue and at least some fetal tissue.

Molar pregnancy is uncommon. The risk is higher for women younger than age 20 and older than age 35, as well as those who’ve had a previous molar pregnancy.

With a molar pregnancy, a woman may miss a period and have a positive pregnancy test. This is because the placenta secretes human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a pregnancy hormone. Symptoms of early pregnancy — such as fatigue and breast tenderness — are possible as well. As the tumor grows, signs and symptoms may include:

• Vaginal bleeding
• Pelvic pressure or pain
• Severe nausea and vomiting
• High blood pressure
• Uterine enlargement

Molar pregnancy can be diagnosed with an ultrasound exam. The condition is generally treated with a procedure called dilation and curettage (D and C), in which the molar tissue is removed from the uterus.  After the D and C, levels of pregnancy hormones may be monitored for a number of months to make sure that no molar tissue remains. It’s possible for molar tissue to eventually become cancerous (malignant).

After a molar pregnancy, most doctors recommend waiting at least one year before trying to conceive again. Although the risk of molar pregnancy is slightly higher in subsequent attempts to conceive, most women who’ve experienced molar pregnancy go on to have successful pregnancies.
