An adult film actor was convicted Friday night of raping a woman in a Washington State University sorority last fall.
It took a Whitman County jury just under three hours to convict Christopher Reid of one count of second degree rape, two counts of residential burglary and one count of first degree burglary. He was found not guilty of attempted residential burglary.
The jury had received the case just before 6 p.m., a decision was announced at 8:40 p.m. and the verdict was read just after 9 p.m. in Whitman County Superior Court in Colfax.
Reid showed little reaction when the verdict was read by Judge David Frazier. The victim and her family held hands when the verdict was read, while Reid’s parents wept after it was announced.
The Los Angeles-based porn actor, who goes by the name Jack Venice in his films, was charged with breaking into the Kappa Alpha Theta house at WSU in September, 2007 and raping a resident of the sorority.
A second defendant in the case, Kyle Schott, pled guilty earlier this year in the case. He testified against Reid on Thursday, saying they had gone to Greek Row after being turned down for sex at various bars around Pullman.
The victim testified on Tuesday that she recognized Reid from the incident, saying he was one of the two men that were in her room when the incident took place.
Reid’s defense attorney said that his client not only didn’t do the crime, but was being singled out because he worked in the porn industry and was vocal about it. Chris Bugbee said that Reid was just in Pullman to party between movie shoots.
But the Whitman County prosecutor, Dennis Tracy, said that Reid had purposely gone to Pullman to have sex with WSU students.
Reid will stay in the Whitman County Jail until his sentencing on December 5th.

I’m relieved the justice system worked in this case. I’m a little shocked it went so well but Reid was so obviously guilty he made the prosecutors job simple.
