Why Do We Protect Pornstars’ Real Names?

In no other celebrity group are real names so protected. Some massive celebrities use real names. Some do not. Either way, the info is easily attained.

My fellow tribesman Gene Simmons was born Chaim Witz. Tom Cruise was born Thomas Mapother IV. Angelina Jolie… well she was Angelina Jolie.

Athletes uses their real names. Most actors and musicians do as well. Politicians, authors and journalists, too.

Why am I "risking someone’s life" if I post a pornstar’s real name? I don’t understand.

  1. Real celebrities have security, or at least an industry “buffer zone” that separates them from their fans. Porn stars, should they be stalked, have only the police. *That’s* why we don’t publish their names.

  2. and the police don’t care about porn stars.
the thing about porn stars is a lot of men assume they can fuck them. they honestly think they have that right. and if they can find them they try to take it.

  3. lets not forget their children didn’t ask for pornstar mothers, you expose them when you expose their mothers.

  4. You make a very good point Luke. Personally, I think that whores names are so protected because of the nature of their business, and their fans. Sure, some fans of mainstream celebrities can get wacko, but not nearly as wacko as so asshole that strokes his 2 inch cock to some dumb whore for 3 years straight and connects sexual desires to her that can get out of hand! People take these whores way too seriously.

  5. What about girls featured in Playboy’s college editions? They use there real names, have no daily protection, and you never hear about assaults.

  6. A somewhat close second to porn folk would be pro wrestlers. I think that’s because so much of the wrestling business is kept out of the public’s view.

  7. But you can search the internet and find any wrestler’s real name very easily. They don’t complain. They use aliases for marketing, not hiding.

  8. Porn stars lives and strippers lives are at risk all the time because their die hard fans who lose touch with reality might cross the link and think that if they have sex on camera or strip for a living, that it must mean they’ll have sex or strip for everyone and anyone. And being in the adult industry has more of a social stigma attached than other industries. And their families might not know and their children might not know.

um what pro wrestler needs a bodyguard? John Cena? The Rock? fuck even Chyna could beat the crap our of most men that would try and cop a feel on her. another thing about celebrities are the fact that most who are stalker worthy have paparazzi following them around so even if they dont have security they have people to take pictures of everything going on around them.

“What about girls featured in Playboy’s college editions? They use there real names, have no daily protection, and you never hear about assaults.” This is not true. A few girls in the College Editions may use their real names but most do not. I don’t know where you got that piece of wisdom, Luke.

  11. Uhmmm are we really so dense as this…hmmm??… even Luke who pretends toward
some moral perspicuity is lost it seems…..Well Luke since Dennis Prager the AM Radio philosopher hasnt
had a special on this particular subject and its hard to know what to think…heres how it goes:
Once upon a time in the far far distant past…(about 20 years ago) and in places far far away from Los Angeles, (yes they do exist) there were cultural, and human norms that believe women have a natural modesty and that sex is something you dont do in public, and that women dont like to be thought of
as “easy”..because it suggests something, well, unladylike. You see…once upon a time there was a
whole useless, utterly relativistic, arbitrary and silly codes of behaviour built around words like “lady” and
“gentleman” and even today silly humans cling onto such ideas despite their faults as a desperate attempt to keep some shred of self respect . Furthermore in these far distant times and places journalism was thought of as a seedy low catch all trade for talentless nobodies. And the demands of journalists for “full disclosure” were seen as nothing more than group of losers looking for the newest bit of “realistic” sensationalistic copy to fillup todays fishwrap. Ah well, I am not sure any of this makes sense in Los Angeles “entertainment capital of the world”…but there its is.

Where is the real Luke at? Who are you?

  13. The real Luke is here:
    http://www.lukeford.net
Since a few times before Luke left some post where made by Al Cerviz then one can guess it’s the guy using that nickname that is in charge of posting at Lukeisback these days.

  14. sixamrush says:

He sucks!!! There’s not a single post on http://www.lukeford.net unless he talks about porn Stars. How Lame…

C’mon, Luke. Come back to your roots & start annoying pornstars again.

As far as Playboy model’s are concerned you can go by your real name if you like or a fake one. It is not a big deal for some reason to go by your real name in my opinion as far as the Playboy side of things are concerned. maybe because they are more untouchable and we are sold as the girl walking down the street gonzo style horny for dick knock on our door or pick us up. Playboy doesn’t market that way. It’s a totally different fantasy. Porn has more imagination to me. That’s just how I see it.

  16. Larry Horse says:

Most porners real names come out anyway, some of the real names are better porn names than the ones they have already, except the guys, there are some bad names with all of 5 minutes of thought, right Steele?

  17. Bon Vivant says:

Zenman: “Real celebrities have security, or at least an industry “buffer zone” that separates them from their fans.”

A tiny percentage of A list movie stars have security or live in mansions that constitute a “buffer zone”. The vast majority of every one else lives normal lives like everyone else, under their real names, even though they are far more famous than your average porn star.

Various famous (female) stars shop at my local super market — at least two Oscar winners included, and then walk home just like everyone else, security free.

Yes you can argue that being in porn may provoke more stalking, but what about being in slasher films, or SkineMax type stuff? — Those people probably provoke just as much misguided fans, and believe me, can’t afford bodyguards.

Porn names date back from the pre-internet, pre video era, when there was a hope your porn career would remain unknown to your family so long as they didn’t hang out at the Pussycat theater (or there wasn’t one in their one-horse town). Now any such hope is ridiculous, many real names are on the IMDB or Wikipedia anyway — it’s all a charade. There is no reason not to publish the real names of porn stars, if you publish the names of every B, C & D category “legit” movie actor out there.

porn has more imagination for brandi edwards, which is why she was angeline marie, jesie mccarthy, and now brandi edwards, i figure her next name is coming in a month or two.

  19. Bottom line…get a job Luke so you wont need to be a sensation mongering imbecile journalist ..you might even go to school and learn something…you might even go so far as to question Dennis PRagers edict that colleges were run by godless liberals…

  20. Because ADT and XPT are made by and for morons. Nuff said. Pornstars can get stalked and killed even if their real names remain “hidden”, all they need is a sicko spottin’ em at some convention, or on the street, following ’em home, raping and killing ’em.

Fuck pornstars, they think they shit gold, they don’t.

  21. christianx says:

i love how brandy edwards chimes in, who was angeline marie, then jessie mccarthy, now brandy edwards, and in six months, she will be someone else. imagination is right. brutal

  22. With wrestling, back in the days before the internet and Vince McMahon saying “Yeah, it’s fake’, you had people believing what happened in the ring was real. Wrestlers have been stabbed and attacked by fans in and outside arenas. Imagine some yahoo who was mad at Dick the Bruiser beating up his favorite and that yahoo trying to find Dick the Bruiser’s house? Again, before the internet, wrestling was a much more closed society than it is now. And even now, it’s still quite secretive.

  23. LiamNissanStanza says:

I think it’s interesting that most of the comments on this subject suggest that the primary reason porn stars would need to keep their real names private is because of the off chance that a fan might go psycho. Sure this must be a real concern for them but why is it that nobody has mentioned religious fanatics our arch conservatives.

It’s far more likely that some bible beater is going to harass them, or more specifically their family. These christ fags picket funerals, shoot doctors, and bomb clinics over the things ‘they think’ are immoral.

Nobody ever shot Tom Cruise for making a shitty movie but Larry Flynt took a bullet for publishing pictures of vagina’s.

  24. Matt Frackas says:

One of the reasons for stage names in porn is for models/talent to SEPARATE their porn life from real life (family, ex-boyfriend, school, work, other career etc).

Yeah its harder to maintain privacy these days, but using your real name in porn makes it that much easier for the vengeful ex or co-worker to expose you.

  25. runninwiththedevil says:

Because a person who does porn and then decides to quit can have a harder time resuming a “normal” life if people know they did porn. Other performers like mainstream actors or wrestlers dont have the same stigma when they attempt to get a job, etc after they quit their performing profesion. The sex business, although attitude about it are changing, has a negatvie reputation to many. And performers in the sex business should have their real names kept private if thats what they want.Porn performers already give their bodies to the biz, they dont need to give away their privacy once they leave it, if it can be helped.

  26. Houstondon says:

“Because ADT and XPT are made by and for morons.”

Says a guy (Smartt) so obsessed with the fringes of porn that he spent untold hours at both websites (getting kicked off both of them in a rare display of karmic solidarity).

To answer the question that so many have raised on various websites thanks to the OP:
It’s not the religious wackos (Mark Kernes’ take on the matter) they need to worry about, nor is it the slavering fanboys at ADT or the handful of misogynists at XPT. It’s the majority of people in the so-called “real world” that will be the problem. Most gals in porn last under a year, some moving on to escorting full time, others going back to stripping, and still others latching on to some guy or finding a better career.

The real problem is that once you are “in” porn, you will always be tainted to the majority of the world; comments about mainstream acceptance laughable once you are outside the limelight of porn. Sure, you can play a hooker in a TV show if you blow half of Hollywood or you can play up your fleeting infamy to a smaller crowd that loves you to your face but will always treat you differently behind your back but lets be realistic.

Truth be told and diseases aside, your employment options will be limited compared to others and the number of people willing to befriend you (marry, date, etc) unless based purely on “scoring with a porn chick” will also be reduced. The chances of making it big financially (like Jenna Jameson) are worse than playing the lottery and the ability to fade away into obscurity is diminishing thanks to the internet and DVD’s so of course people in porn would appreciate the possibility of keeping their given names secret (which is why I fussed so long and hard at idiots like Mike S. for publicizing the “Atomic Punk” postings).

Keep in mind that a growing number of companies “Google” potential employees these days too and those that publicize performers’ names (the ones that don’t do it themselves) should be ostracized by the industry.

  27. Hey, Houstondon: fuck off.

Pornstars, directors and the such deserve nothing but a painful death.

  28. Houstondon says:

No they don’t but by saying so on a porn related website you show yet again your obsession. Thanks for playing!

  29. buffybuffyrabit says:

the only thing that bothers me is when porn starts keep changing their names. i find a star i like, and then find out she has 10 different names. making it impossible to find everything she has been in. and a lot of the new stars steal names from older starts. nadia nyce was one of my fav’s, now i can’t find anything with her in it because some ugly new chick stole her name. and since they keep changing names, i end up buying movies with the same clips of them. i must have 5 different dvd’s of cassidy, in the same scene. that’s why i just buy used or download the clips for free. it’s not worth wasting money just to find out its some different porn star or the same clip.
