Vivid Slowdown

Vivid used to shoot a dozen movies a month, but this year they’ve only been shooting three a month. They have a skeletal crew. Shylar’s shooting second camera.

I hear Vivid’s DVD sales are down by a third.

At one point, they asked the guy to shoot scenes for no more than $500. Folks such as Tommy Gunn and Evan Stone typically get $800 a scene.

Vivid has gotten rid of four contract girls — the Love twins, Brea Lynn and Cassidey. I don’t know about Kaden and Lanny Barbie.

Meanwhile, Naughty America is shooting 80 scenes a month with big crews. For internet players such as Naughty America and Bang Bros, DVD sales are gravy.

I hear: "I think the Vivid article is misleading. Nearly every studio is down in DVD sales-Vivid is no exception. The Internet companies have a different business model, but I strongly doubt whether they are shooting 80 scenes a month. The rule of thumb for Internet pay sites is that they update each site one time per week. Multiply the number of sites they have and you probably have close to their output. If they have 20 sites or sections, then it would be 80 scenes. It looks like they have 8 sections and they are updating weekly. So in reality, they are producing around 30-35 scenes a month. Vivid has Vivid, Vivid-Alt and Vivid-Ed and are putting out at least 5 movies per month, or around 25-30 scenes. Really not that much of a difference, particularly as all of NA’s movies are straight sex and Vivid’s are mostly features."

Joe says: "Either way Vivid sucks. On a more interesting note.. I heard a rumor that Jenna called Steven Hirsch a fucking nosey jew and told him and his partner to stay out of her life. Stefani Morgan called me to tell me that Vivid Co-owner William Asher is the guy she has been dating on and off again, and that he also owns a few bars across the country such as the Pussy Cat Lounge in AZ, some new spot in Venice and a strip club in AZ.. She informed me that his bars are struggling because of the over-saturation and the need for a hip clientle, which his watering holes lack. The moral of this story is stick to porn and herpes."
