I picked the quote because it still captures the essence of California. Wallace Stegner calls California “America only more so.” There is not one California, there are many. A good book about this subject is “Unknown California” (Collier Books), if you’re really interested in it. By the way, California ranks amongst the top 10 economies in the world and is THE largest economy in the US.
