1st Adultcon Awards Given Out Saturday Night

Tod Hunter writes for XBiz:

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The first Adultcon Awards were given out Saturday night in a sparsely attended ceremony at the Key Club on the Sunset Strip. Awards were given in nine competitive categories, plus three achievement awards, in a fast-paced ceremony that lasted less than an hour.

Adultcon Vice President Renaud West estimated the attendance at "maybe 100," adding, "It was not well-attended, but the right people were there."

AdultCon organizer Renaud West says: "No-shows are not news in out industry but some want to make a big deal where there is none. Cindy Crawford emailed us confirmation and simply did not show up but no surprise there. Randy Spears told us he ws scheduled to shoot for Wicked that day. Hillary Scott lives out of state. Liv Wylder lives out of state. Travis Knight lives out of state. Sunny Lane was in Canada. Courtney Cummz told us months ago that she was booked to feature out of state. Lucky for Mia Rose, she attended and won the very first Adultcon Award and solid gold necklace with a 1/4 carat diamond in the "A".

"We posted one release that Larry Flynt would attend in person, but made no other hoopla about it. HIs office was generous in letting us know at least one week in advance that he could not attend. We saw no purpose in making an anouncement about this. We did not think that his not attending would affect people attending, or we would have announced it. While having Mr. Flynt attend would have been fantastic, the purpose was an Award to honor him and his work, and his not attending does not diminish that. LFP Video President Michael Klein was very kind to take the time to accept the award and we thank him and Hustler for considering our award toi be of value. Evan kept us informed every day about Tera’s schedule. She had a network TV show taping in the day and then had to feature in Oxnard by 11pm. There was no time to make it to the awards. They would have been there had there been time. We consider this subject closed."
