I just picked up the new AVN Magazine and it is most certainly the thinnest issue I have ever seen. I have spent many days reading this publication while sitting on the toilet, and it is such a sad state of affairs that most companies have chosen to pull their advertising. The politics and behind the scenes are what I understand to be the inherent problem with disgruntled advertisers, but the real question is – What is AVN’S circulation? How far do they reach? How much do they matter? I feel as if people have wised up and demanded some sort of bottom line when spending money monthly on a business to business magazine. The Erotica LA convention which is owned by AVN unlike AEE will be empty from companies participation.
Dan Miller is the light at the end of the tunnel for AVN. He a great guy with integrity, and he has a vision for quality and growth. The smartest thing for them was to get someone in there that cares about the future and not just a pay check.
with dvd sales down 40% the belt tightening has to start somewhere. surely avn’s ad pages reflect that.
