It's days like this that make Jim Gunn glad he decided not to pursue a career in marketing. It's a few minutes after 1 p.m. on a sparkling October Saturday, and Gunn's workday is just getting underway. Dressed in a T-shirt, nylon warm-up pants and Nike Air Jordans, he's perched on the deck of a handsome, secluded home in the Hamptons, which is equipped with a pool, a hot tub and a platoon of voluptuous young women who've come to spend the weekend with him. ...Gunn is in the middle of a three-day shoot that will yield the 11th and 12th installments of his "Strap-On Sally" series, a triple-X lesbian love fest geared, he says, to "the all-girl aficionado." An agreeable sort with pale, boyish features and a nervous laugh, Gunn is director of production for the New Jersey-based Pleasure Productions, one of the country's largest purveyors of adult entertainment. The company manufactures and distributes 25 movies and CD-ROMs every month, several of which Gunn produces and directs personally. "We do gay, straight, amateur, she-male, bisexual, fetish-oriented stuff," he says. "We have every oar in the water." Born 1/13/69, Jim grew up in New Jersey and New York. At SUNY Albany he earned spending money by writing stories for sex magazines before graduating with a degree in business administration. After interviewing with "boring, stupid marketing companies," Jim sent resumes to a few porn companies, eventually landing a place in the marketing department of Pleasure Productions. He moved into production in 1993 and by 1997 was virtually running the company. Gunn became best known for his Canadian and lesbian angle on porn, including his Strap-On Sally series. In late 1997 he was contracted by the LA-based Devils Films, which is owned by Mike Rubinstein who started Rosebud. Devils Films release much ethnic product including Black Cheerleader Search as well as she-male and TT Boy videos. Jim moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1998. "It’s warm and there’s a lot of pussy. By staying on the East Coast, it makes my job harder [organizing porn shoots] but it allows me to offer something different.
