I talked on the phone to slender pale long-haired performer Dave Dodge (Dave Mayer) Thursday afternoon, 7/30/98. Born in 1959, the born again Christian has appeared in about 75 sex scenes. His father is Jewish and his mother is Protestant.

"I think you know everything and I don't really have to speak to you. You and many people out there know more about me than I know about myself.

"I'm a sports nut and I could coach a professional hockey team. Out of the kindness of my heart, during the 1996-97 season, I took it upon myself to volunteer my services to the New Jersey Blue Devils as a consultant. General Manager Lou Lamoriello is one of the scummiest cutthroat megalomaniacs in professional sports… whose been stealing my ideas. He had the league security office take me to lunch to tell me that if I ever contacted the New Jersey Devils again, they would take me to jail for harassment.

"I think this is in the hands of the White House. I'm not nuts. I see parallels between the Lewinsky-Clinton situation and the Dave Mayer - Lou Lamoriello situation.

"Wherever I go, I'm recognized. I'm followed. My phone may be tapped. I constantly see bizarre and silly things…even if it is just the vehicles parked on my street. People are playing with me… Playing off various problems I've had, psychological and emotional disorders, drugs, etc…

"I'm lazy. I'm fun loving. I don't like to work hard jobs.

"On 9/81 at age 22, in NYC, I picked up a copy of the Village Voice. Found an ad for "adult male actors." Polar opposite of today where the market is saturated. I think that Rob Spallone has made a tremendous impact on the business, to make it more professional…

"I was blown away that I could make money for having sex. At the audition, about 150 guys lined up around the block in some Times Square sleazy slum building… Pegasus Productions was casting Camp Fire Girls.

"They auditioned us to see if we could have sex on camera. Could we cum on cue. I passed the sexual audition with flying colors. Like you, I don't enjoy eating pussy, but I can get around that.

"So, about five of us guys were selected for this movie in upstate New York. We were going to earn about $500 a week for a three week shoot. I got cold feet. I feared that it would haunt me. I was wrong. Anyway, I backed out.

"I moved out here in the Spring of 1993. I had a rude awakening. Looking through the sports page at a coffee shop in Brentwood, I saw an ad for Nina Hartley. I went to see her strip. I think she referred me to World Modeling. I did my first scene in February of 1994 for John Bowen for free. I proved myself. I started getting more work.

"I became friends with some of the other actors. They gave me phone numbers of people to call. Then Jim South came down on me. He said that when I got work on my own, because I was getting all my work on my own, I had to phone him for permission. He had to be on good terms with the producer, and know that the producer was going to pay him a $60 check…

"I declared war on World Modeling. It wasn't so much Jim South, but the garbage who worked in his office, like Brad [Gunches] and Steve Austin. Those guys put me at the bottom of the World Modeling totem pole.

"I left the industry in March 1995. Another unfortunate situation occurred and I left California. I returned 15 months later. I became good friends with Rob Spallone in October of 1996. I quit the business in 1997 because of the NHL stuff…

"I would make these suggestions to newcomers. One, concentrate on developing relationships rather than just maximizing income. Don't worry about $50 here or there. Develop friends. They will help you get work. Two. If you're not comfortable with something, walk away. A bad day in this business can destroy you. "
