After years of drug problems, Trinity Loren aka Roxanne McPherson died early Saturday morning 10/24/98 of an overdose of pills (either prescription painkillers or sleeping pills, possible combined with an illegal drug like heroin).

Barry Woods, the ex-husband of Trinity Loren, writes 1/19/99: "I have more imformation about Trinity's death. Her boyfriend Mike and roommates Joe and Justin said to me and to the police and AVN that Trinity was still snoring at 12 0'clock at night and 1 and 4 in the morning and that she died between 4 and 9 on the morning of the 24th [of October]. I spoke to the coroner and he told me that she died at about 9'oclock the night before and that rigamortis had already set in. He said it is a common thing for people to cover up what actually happened in drug overdoses and he said that the boyfriend probably was stoned too and had to clean up the evidence. Also, if someone had call 911 the chances of reviving her would have been about 95%."

"Roxanne needed eight Xanax [anti-depressant] just to get up in the morning," says a source. "I saw her several months before she died. She looked bloated and drugged. Horrible. And she was with her daughter Tess."

"She was the most depressed person I ever knew," says another source.

Loren's final years were characterized by broken friendships. "We had a rift," say person after person who knew the ex-porn star.

Roxanne last lived in Todd Bridges old home in Sun Valley.

Writes James Davenport: "I was saddened by the death of Roxanne. She died from an overdose of sleeping pills. She dated one of my good friends, an attorney, for a couple of years when she lived in Houston and it was one of the happiest times of her life. She wasn't Trinity here, she was Roxanne.

"I was a little surprised to see your supportive comments about her ex-husband as he put her through hell. She fought him tooth and nail for custody. After getting her into x-rated films and on drugs, he tried to use those things to prove she was an unfit mother.

"You are right though that she loved Tess so much. She came to Houston to build a new life and start fresh. Then her ex-husband tracked her down and used the courts to force her back to California with Tess. Now she is dead and he wants people to contribute money so he can raise her daughter. Her real friends who knew her laugh, her gentle side and her deep beauty will long miss her. In Houston she was off drugs and doing well - her ex-husband doesn't deserve our sympathy or support, Tess does."

Trinity is the ex-wife of Barry Woods who used to perform in front of the camera under the name Shane Hunter. They had a painful breakup seven years ago, shortly after the birth of their daughter Tess.

Loren lived alone in Burbank with her daughter and was working on a book about her life. She'd been taking anti-depressants for years to deal with her seizures. Her friends thought she'd conquered her drug problems.

VCA's production coordinator Stephanie Ross writes: "A good friend of ours, Barry Wood's [ex] wife, Roxanne [Trinity Loren] died this weekend. I am asking for donations to help Barry with funeral services and for the care of his 8 year old daughter [Tess].

"Anything is appreciated. You can bring donations to Stephanie Ross at VCA, 9650 DeSoto Ave., Chatsworth, Ca. 91311. 818/718-0202 ext. 222 Please help Barry in this time of need."

Martin Brimer: "Barry Woods is a great guy who has given much to this industry. I just want to say that I feel deeply for his loss and his child's loss and, to echo Stephanie Ross's sentiments, I urge everyone to do what they can to help Barry in his time of need. Godspeed, Trinity."

Russ Hampshire has donated $1000 to help Barry, who manned a video camera for Tight Ends Thursday (10/29).

Taylor Wane: "I was turned into the INS. Trinity strongly denies these allegations but there is no doubt I was turned in and at that time there was a minor feud between us. It actually turned out to be a good kick in the pants for me and made me take care of business that I had neglected. Of course it was not a good thing for the health of our friendship. I did straighten out all of my INS problems and I hold no grievances with Trinity."

I received a tearful call Wednesday (10/28/98) evening from an old friend of Trinity, single mom and returned porn star Sukoya aka Angela D'Angelo aka Amber, grieving over the loss. Amber entered porn in 1989 and appeared in over 100 videos over the next two years until retiring in 1991. She married and had a baby girl. Divorced, she reentered porn in July 1998 to earn money.

With her four year old crying and playing in the background, Amber said she'd appeared in eight features over the past few months and appears on the boxcover of Thomas Paine's Raging Hormones.

Pat Riley describes her as "Dark skinned but doesn't look Oriental or black. Tattoo [dragon] on left hip and serpent on left breast. Big tits (natural) and flat ass. Looks like Mia Powers. 5'10", 120 lbs., 36C-24-34, grew up in Albequerque NM."

Amber: "My appearance has changed for the better. I've put on about 15 pounds. I was really thin before. I looked like a drug addict. I wasn't. I've had braces. I now have long brownish red hair.

"I'm Irish, Italian and American Indian.

"I met Trinity in the business in 1990. We were best friends. I'd stay at her house. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She was caring. She was there for people. If I ever needed a baby sitter, she'd pick up my daughter and let her spend the night. She was very close to her little girl. They were always hugging and affectionate...

"I'm in shock [over Loren's passing]. It still hasn't gotten to me yet. I can't believe it.

"I left the industry because I was scared of AIDS but now with condoms it's safer. I'm with Jim South.

"I had moved out of town and sold (for $500) a large antique mirror  (appraised at $24,000) through the Recycler... When she [Trinity Loren] came back into town, she went to this small antique store in Burbank and bought ($9000) my mirror. We could not believe it. It was at my place three months and we were looking at pictures. We thought that was a sign of us coming back together."

Sharon Mitchell frequently stripped in clubs with Loren. "It was a decadent time. We had just finished a Saturday afternoon matinee show [late '80s]. It'd been a good tipping day and we were bored. We looked at each other and said, 'f--- it, let's go shopping.' We went up and down Walnut Street in Philadelphia and we bought everything. She had that blonde hair and big tits and she bought all these thigh-high Gold Lemay (sp?) boots. We spent all our money.

"I rented a guest house from Trinity when she and Barry lived in Van Nuys. She always had an openness in her heart for me. We had a rift in our relationship two years ago. I inherited her bird Boo."

Barry and Trinity's Van Nuys condo was a popular location for shoots in the late '80s and early '90s. Born 8/21/63, Trinity Loren was an original big bust babe before silicone implants became popular. She started out as a mens magazine model before performing in sex films such as Caught From Behind 6, Ready to Drop, Beefeaters and Anal Analysis.

Trinity was a popular dancer on the circuit and appeared many times at Show World and other venues featuring big breasted babes in no more than a G-string.

In Dance Fire, Trinity plays a dancer who f---s her instructor John Stagliano. She also stood out in Paul Norman's Cyrano, produced during porn's Golden Age when movies had big budgets and real scripts. This is an unusual picture as well, a period piece with exceptional makeup and costumes, and performers who can act. Check out Trinity's marathon six-girl orgy.

"For Trinity Loren at her best, hunt down Anal Analysis. It's a porno candid camera with Trinity giving one of the hottest f---ing performances she ever did on film." (PSL 1/96 p.94)

Trinity did numerous sexvids while pregnant or lactating. She grew heavier as she aged.

Trinfan writes: "I am saddened by the unhappy details of Roxanne's life. My deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends. I never met her, but I did admire and appreciate her, as do many other people.

"Alt.Fan.Trinity-Loren was formed in August by one such dedicated fan, Wildcard. Hundreds of other fans, including myself, joined in over the past few months to show our appreciation for Trinity. The five or six people I have heard from who actually met Trinity said she was a sweet and considerate person.

"The private life of a performer is often very different from their onscreen personas. We can't make judegements about Roxanne's life, but we do know that Trinity left her mark on her fans. That is why we still appreciate and remember her. We hope that Alt.Fan.Trinity-Loren will serve as a kind of memorial to her.

We also hope that the book about her life that Roxanne was working on will eventually be published in some form. A fan, who is a professional editor, is willing to compile and edit her book free of  charge. It is very premature to say what will happen with this venture, but I and Trinity's other fans sincerely hope that her book can be published and serve as another testament. Several fans, including myself, have expressed interest in contributing to a trust fund for Roxanne's daughter, should one be set up. We would prefer that it be connected to a financial institution in some way, but the bottom line is that we want to help make Tess' future a little more secure."

Videographer Barry Woods, divorced hubby of the late Trinity Loren aka Roxanne McPherson, writes:

DAMNIT ! Yes she is dead ! I knew Roxanne for 19 years. We were the best of friends, lovers and sometimes bitter enemies. Not to forget that she was the mother of my daughter, Tess. We buried Roxy yesterday, 11/5/98.
Let me tell you abut Roxy. She cared about the poor, not the rich. She cared about people in trouble. If you had no friends left in this world, and met her on the street, she would be your best friend. She tried to give love and help to anyone, and I mean ANYONE, whatever race !
In Roxanne's life, she was alyways looking for something, but she never found what that was. Maybe a house on the beach, a dog, a man to take care of or it could have been a man take of her! A prince, a pauper or it could have been a pair of shoes that she never wore. SH!T She tried. Although a bitter coustody battle over our daughter tore us appart for 4 years, the last 2 years we became friends again. The last 3 weeks of Roxy's life were good. She was winning the battle of her addiction to prescription drugs, not only had she found a new love, she was the happiest Ive seen her in a while. 34 years old, THATS f---ED!
She could have had 30 more ! She never got to the place that she tried so hard to find. I only wish that Tess and I could have known her longer ! Love Barry & Tess

James Davenport replies from Texas:

I read the letter by Barry Woods. A couple of weeks before Roxanne died she called a friend of mine in Houston and asked him to come out and stay with her. Obviously she hadn't found the love of her life. She talked about how lonely she was and how much she hated Barry.

I want Roxanne to rest in peace and I just think it stinks that the man who brought so much pain and destruction in her life would now present himself as the sympathetic husband who deserves our pity. I have never met Barry Woods and know nothing about him except what hell he put Roxanne through with the courts. I know that she claims he got her into porn and got her into drugs and then turned right around and used those issues to argue she was an unfit mother and fought to take her daughter away. I know how much Roxanne said she hated Barry Woods.

The lesson of Roxanne's life is that we all have contradictions in our lives and none of us can be fairly judged by short periods of time. More than anything else Roxanne wanted a normal family life - yet everything she did was to extremes. It was those extremes that cost her most of her friendships and kept her from finding true love. She either smothered people or would become vicious and drive them away.

There is a tragedy in the porno industry that leads a lot of young women like Roxanne to early deaths at their own hand. Many of these young women are destroyed by the conflicting emotions and how people look at them afterwards they do porno films. Roxanne made millions of dollars but ended up broke because she spent it as fast as she made it. Also, more than anything Roxanne wanted a normal life but that wasn't possible because men always recognized her and basically looked on her as a hooker. Maybe the industry needs to help prepare young women for both the good and the bad side of the business. How to handle money and what to expect from people outside the industry when they recognize you.

From Excalibur:

Born Roxanne McPherson on August 21, 1963, Trinity got into the skin biz in the early 80’s as one of the top big-breasted models in men's magazines. She made the leap into full-fledged hardcore in late 1985 and instantly rose to the top of the business with steamy performances in such videos as "Caught From Behind #06". Trinity was not your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill porn starlet. She staked her claim on porn stardom as one of the first true video vixens, a girl quite comfortable churning out the one-day, low budget sexfests that began to flood the market in the early and mid 80’s.

Trinity's initial claim to fame was her enormous chest, twin mammarial wonders that reportedly weighed upwards of seven pounds. Once you got past the bra-busting boobs, though, Trinity was a truly unique sexual performer. She was a bit thicker than most porn starlets, with wide shoulders and a broad, round, jiggly butt that took many a ribald pounding. She sported a huge shock of unruly reddish brown hair, which contributed to her aura of out-of-control sexuality. Facially, Trinity had the nasty, knowing look of an over-sexed Italian housewife, a look that said, "I know what I want, and you're gonna give it to me."
