Thoren entered porn in 1996 at age of 18, appearing in such pro-am tapes as More Dirty Debutantes 50 and Up & Cummers 29. Linda enclosed this article about her by Singapore journalist Gerrie Lim from the 2/99 issue of Fiveaguck magazine: Meet Linda Thoren, who hails from a Swedish town you’ve never heard of called Ornskoldsvik, and who, at the tender age of 21, plans to take the sex industry by storm. After just 17 films (a small oeuvre for a porn star these days), she started her own production company (called Linda Thoren Produktion, in Stockholm) and has a spankin’ cool Web site (http://www.swelinda.com), which she heartily expects you to spank to. "It’s my fan club on the Net," she says, where (if access isn’t forbidden where you live) you can download her photo shoots, view streaming video, read about her sexual adventures, and access her chatrooms and live shows. The latter is for members only, of course – hey, what self-respecting porn site would give you everything for free? This is commercial sex, you know. And you can learn many things about her. Her fave bands are Metallica and the Rolling Stones, her fave food is French fries, her fave TV shows are Ally McBeal and Melrose Place, her fave author is Ken Follett, and her favorite position is doggy style. She lost her virginity at 15 and did her first porn movie on her 18th birthday in 1995 ("I was barely legal and horny as a stray cat. The shooting took place in Paris and I was banged by three guys in every hole I got, and I loved it. I think I came four times during one scene"). Her favorite sexual fantasies are "too perverted to tell anyone." Thoren told the British magazine Bizarre: "I think my looks suit Asian men best. For them, I am blonde and very exotic." She made four films in Japan and gets a lot of fan mail from there. "There must have been a reason that they took me over there from the other side of the earth," she tells me. "And they also told me that I was perfect for the jobs. I look very European and act like an old-fashioned Japanese girl. I am very shy, when I’m not in front of the camera." In front of the camera, it’s a different story indeed. In 1997, the year she won the "International Starlet of the Year" award at the Festival Erotica in Barcelona, she’d already had her own simple Web page from which she sold her own home video, for US$35 and available only on the Net. You could order it and watch her play with herself, all fingers and dildos, to the tune of "three wonderful orgasms." Such an entrepreneurial streak might have stemmed, I suspected, from her working in Japan, a curiously rigid country where no gaijin gets creative control. "It was in April 1996," she recalls of those films, some still unreleased. "The titles, I don’t know. I think one director’s name was Kenji or something. You know, these Japanese directors are all unknown for us in Europe and it’s a little hard to remember their names." And what about the sex itself? "I loved the respectful and polite way the men approached the girls. Things like that turn me on. The fans who write to me, well, they all like used panties and stuff like that. And when they tell me about their fantasies, it is very much young girls, bondage and things like that. For me, it’s a little bit exciting. I come from the north of Sweden, and the people there are a little bit shy. They don’t talk so much and try to keep a low profile. When I was in Japan, it was like being at home. I liked it." For Linda Thoren, it’s the perfect foil – since, like many artists and performers, she’s shy off-camera but certainly not at all when she’s got those lenses pointed at her blond hair, blue eyes and her very European 50 kg, 168 cm tall, 89-66-86 cm body. "I have wanted to work with sex since I was 11 years old," she remembers. "I know it sounds strange, but somehow I knew already then that I was going to end up in this business. So when I was 18, I contacted the biggest men’s magazine in Sweden and asked them for work. Since then, I have been working full-time, mostly in Los Angeles and Japan." I talked to Linda at the July 1999 AVN Expo. Linda Thoren, now age 21: "At age 17, I wrote a letter to this Swedish mens magazine... I met Thomas [current boyfriend]... They suggested that I wait six months until I was 18. Then Thomas and I started calling each other and we ended up together. The age of consent is 15 in Sweden... "It's different working in Europe and Japan and the US. In the US, people are open and it's easy to work... In southern Europe, the dinner is very important. A three hour dinner and then they start shooting. In France and Italy, the guys in the movies are always trying to touch you... Even when the camera is turned off... American guys are more professional. European guys keep trying, to prove their manhood. America pays better than Europe though Japan pays better than America. "I shot for a few magazines in Japan and a few videos... They don't do hardcore... It's easier... "The first American scene I ever did was for Sin City, Lollipop in 1996... "I hate children. My ferrets are my children... I want to stay in this business..." Luke: "Do you have any favorite guys to work with?" Linda: "No one special... I do porno for the camera... I don't care about the man... He could be a dildo... I turn on for the camera... But it's not like having sex with my boyfriend... " 9/26/00 I hear that ex-Sin City contract girl Linda Thoren considered suing director Michael Raven in a money dispute. Sin City dropped her as a contract girl a few months ago, ostensibly because she wouldn't do anal. She used to do anal but a medical problem ended that. "I heard that they used that as an excuse to let her go," says a source. "It was largely because she and Raven did not get along." Much of that had to do with rivalry with Katja Kean, who was hugely popular with the fans, more so than Linda. Katja's English is better and Katja has better acting skills. Linda did not really play ball with Sin City, say sources. She came across at tradeshows as cold and aloof. She put on weight. And she wasn't willing to play the whole publicity game while Katja was totally into publicity. Raven did some accounting and found out Thoren was owed some money, but not as much as Thoren claimed. I don't think Linda has the paperwork to back up her claims. I hear that Linda has gone into seclusion away from the adult industry. She has a new boyfriend, a Swedish disc jockey Marcus she met in a nightclub. She remains friends with Thomas, her ex-boyfriend the porn journalist. Linda Thoren writes on her website Swelinda.com: My plans for the near future is extremely lazy, I will stay in Sweden, taking it easy, doing some dancing at clubs, enjoy the short Swedish summer and just have a good time. My contract with Sin City ran out in May, but in September I'll go back to LA - now as a freelancer - for some more nasty work. I'm really looking forward to work with other producers than Michael Raven. Fred writes: So what do you suppose is the story with Ms. Thoren? Do you believe the story about the medical problem? Do you think she simply burned out in porno land? I got the distinct impression that she was quite enthusiastic about her career when it started. (I've never met her, but she posted from time to time on RAME and l-keford.com, and seemed rather upbeat.) What happened? Think she just over-dosed on sleeze? Or did you convert her to orthodox Judaism when we weren't looking? It would be interesting to see if you could interview her to get her thoughts on what it's like when one is no longer happy doing porn. It would also be interesting to know her thoughts on the fact that all the videos she's made are still out there, and whether that bothers her. I feel comfortable in saying that she is not anti-porn or sorry that she has, or will again, work in it. I'm just wondering if you've got any news about Swedish star Linda Thorén. Is she quitting porn? I've visited her homepage (the swelinda.com-page) about 4 times this weekend and something strange is going on over there. In Linda's guestbook there was a message that doubted that Linda herself has written the newsletters on her site. I don't remember the exact words, but the point was that "some guy" probably had written the letters to make Linda look more conscious and more mature than she really is, in order to make guys who watch her feel more comfortable about watching her. Anyway, the next day this message was totally gone, somebody had obviously censored it. Well, well, well.... What do you think? I think the people who runs this site shouldn´t censor what I write in the guestbook. I left a critical message here some days ago and now it's GONE. Apparently this wasn't done in order to protect Linda (if that had been the case they would have censored the guy who called her "hordjävel"/"f---ing whore") or the woman who called her "patetisk"/"pathetic". I suggest you cut this censorship thing off. The porn industry is supposed to protect free speech, right? The next thing that happened: The guestbook was taken off line! A coincidence?
