Born in 1939 to a father who played the trumpet and a mother who wished to be an actress, "Juliet Anderson" grew up in Burbank, California. Sickness, only recently diagnosed as Crohn's Disease and manic-depression, kept her in bed and in hospital through much of her childhood.

Anderson graduated Burbank High School in 1956 and later attended Long Beach State before moving to Japan to study art. She had a brief but intense marriage to a man in the Navy. They remain friends.

After spending 18 years abroad teaching English, Juliet leaped into pornos at age 39 in Alex deRenzy's Pretty Peaches. While attending San Francisco State, Anderson had begun working behind the scenes of porn production and because the sex seemed fun, she became a performer, adopting the name Juliet Anderson.

Her screen name of Aunt Peg came about from a scene where she performed cunnilingus on her "niece" and the latter started crying "Ooh Aunt Peg! Aunt Peg!"

Juliet served as an archetype of the highly sexed middle aged woman, defining herself as every married man's fantasy of how a wife should behave in the bedroom.

"The Aunt Peg character exemplified the lusty, intelligent, self-assured older woman," says Juliet.

Anderson directed the 1981 video The King's Ladies starring Sharon Mitchell, Rhonda Jo Petty, Holly McCall and Mai Lin. "One of the hottest ever," says Holliday. "The quality of the transfer was way ahead of its time."

Juliet: "Even more gratifying than being in front of the camera was the one-woman comedy sex shows I took around the country. I created ten different characters who dispel myths about mature women and sexuality. I also discovered Nina Hartley and produced and directed her in 1984's Educating Nina, her video debut. It was a huge undertaking with a $30,000 budget. It had a strong story, talented actors and superb production values. However, what we shot and edited was not the version released to the public. Industry circumstances beyond my control made this gem a financial and emotional disaster for me. I quit the sex-business."

XBOY321 of RAME echoes my feelings about Aunt Peg. "While Juliet Anderson was and is a classy, talented and intelligent lady, she starred in several of the first X films I ever saw (in the early '80s), and nearly scared me away from porn forever. I wanted to see a dirty movie. I didn't want to see mom in a dirty movie."

Juliet returned to porn in 1995. Her latest appearance comes in Masturbation Memoirs by House O'Chicks. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. In a 1997 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, she loudly denounced the movie Boogie Nights for painting porn in a negative light.

"I'm a relationship counselor which focuses on integrating mind, body and spirit," Anderson wrote to me 11/98, "which includes ways to bring sexuality into one's life in a healthy and realistic way. I also give workshops for women and couples such as Touch As THE Play. And finally, under the banner of Afterglow Productions, I produce and direct sexual enhancement videos for "the baby boomers" featuring real couples over 50 years old."
