KSexRadio.com President Mike Rick Dies
2002-10-28 17:18:02
A resident of Burbank, Calif., Rick was co-founder of Orange Park, Fla.-based Cyber-Synergism and president of Burbank-based KSEX Radio. He hosted "The KSEXperts," a weekly Webcast devoted to "how to get more out of sex and life." He also was a frequent speaker at adult Webmaster conventions. (AVN.com)

According to a statement from Wankus of Ksexradio.com:

"Last night, in a tragic accident while hiking, we lost our fearless leader, Mike Rick. This is not a joke email or some sick humor, like I thought when I first got the call. He went out at night with binoculars to gget a better look at the stars and slipped on a ridge in the Burbank hills, and [he] must have died while rolling down the steep cliff. I don't know many details beyond that....

"... I made one call today about it and couldn't get any words out because I was crying like a small child.

"As of tonight ... we will suspend all programming out of respect for the situtation. We may resume tomorrow night, although I'm not sure. I might wish to keep the entire week dark, under the circumstances. I can't think straight right now.

"If you are looking for something to do to help under the situation, first please project positive thoughts to Alison, Chris, Pop Pop, and Mike's family. If you're a religious type, please make many a prayer. Secondly, I wouldn't recommend a flutter of visitors and calls today, but tomorrow it would be nice for Alison to hear from [those close to her and employees].

"Please remember the awesome qualities [Rick] had as we move on to the future without him. He had an incredible heart and a vision like no other."

Condolences may be sent to Fastbroadcast, c/o Wankus, 2829 Glen Oaks Blvd. #203, Burbank, Calif. 91504. The station will deliver them to the family.

Kevin Blatt writes on Oprano.com: OH MY G-D what is happening with all these people I know dying around me so young??? I am at a loss for words. Mike was a great and honest man. One of the first guys I met at YNOT, he always was fun to talk to on the phone and we always spoke of working together someday in the entertainment biz together.... This is a total shock and my prayers go out to his family. Mike was a gentleman and a scholar.

Diana writes on Netpond: Mike was a great guy. He was the life of the party one night out in Mexico joining the band and singing and playing the drums. My sincere condolences to all who knew and loved him.

Timbo writes on Netpond: When DJ and I came back to LA earlier this year, Mike was nice enough to rent us some space at their offices in Burbank. Always there to lend a helping hand, and we needed it. My thoughts are with Alison, his kids and his staff, Wankus, Harry, and Daisy. We lost a good one this time.

LA Mike from Silvercash writes on Netpond: My heart and prayers go out to Mike and his family. I was lucky enough to meet Mike when I first got into this biz way back when and was able to make a trip to his house. The first time I met him on the phone he let me come to his house and spend an entire day picking though all of his content to make one perfect CD. (this was unheard of back then) I met Alison (His wife)and some of his employess that worked out of his house at the time. I continued to see Mike at shows and we talked on the phone from time to time. What a great guy he was! We always lose the best ones.

John IP writes: For those of you that didnt know Mike you missed out on a very special person. I meet Mike early in 1997,when all the copyright issues were brewing. Mike and his brother Chris were the ones that helped us out in that situation and I’m proud to say we remained business partners and friends since day 1. Outgoing gregarious and brilliant a true innovator a pleasure to hold long conversations with about anything.A truly Class act and great guy! My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Allison his children and his brother Chris.
