I arrive on set at noon. I ask director Corey Jordan how many scenes he's shot. He says none. Alex Sanders laughs.
Ariana, a nice Jewish girl, is the star of the show. Her inner voice leads her to have sex with various men and women until the sun goes down.
Gianna Lynn (Filipino) walks in carrying a herbal tea bag, lunch, and other stuff. She's been in porn for ten weeks and has done over 30 movies. She's a non-exclusive contract girl for Corey Jordan's (Jill Kelly's ex-husband, Dale's brother, and nice Jewish boy) No Boundaries Entertainment.
Gianna's out of action for a few days. She's been pissing blood.
I walk outside with Gianna and sit in the shade on a plastic lawnchair beside the pool.
Duke: "When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
Gianna, 20: "I wanted to be everything from... In second grade, I wanted to become a dentist. My mom bought me all these books. After that, I wanted to become an FBI agent, an archeologist and all these crazy things. I think if I wasn't doing this, I'd be training to be a fire fighter."
Gianna was born in the Phillipines and moved to California at age four.
Duke: "Did you know [growing up] that there was a big porn industry in the Valley?"
Gianna: "No, I was pretty sheltered growing up. I went to a private Baptist school."
Duke: "What kind of crowd did you hang out with in highschool?"
Gianna: "I didn't like cliques. I tried to get along with everybody."
Duke: "How would you describe your best friends [in highschool]?"
Gianna: "They were goofy. We grew up in a strict crazy Christian environment. We had to wear long skirts. I was a cheerleader. My skirts were down to my knees. We had to find ways to make light of the situation."
Duke: "Did you hate it?"
Gianna: "Oh no. I try not to hate anything. Hate is such a strong passionate word.
"They give you so many barriers it's easy to fall into this utopia of, oh G-d, I don't want to talk s---, but it was one of those places where, I don't want to say brainwashed... You have so many rules it's hard not to become what they think is an ideal person."
Duke: "Obviously you didn't."
Gianna laughs: "Obviously not."
Lynn says she was a bad student. "I always messed around in class. I was always doodling."
Duke: "What were you expected to become?"
Gianna: "It's a stereotypical asian family. They always believe you should become a doctor. A lot of my family on both sides has degrees in the medical field. They wanted me to do that and I didn't want to.
"I went to a Baptist college. That lasted for a semester. I'm planning to go back to college to finish my degree [in Art]. Hopefully people won't recognize me in classes. That would be awkward."
Duke: "How did you get into porn?"
Gianna: "I used to work for a mortgage company. I had a friend (One day I was walked by her cubicle and she said, you should call this guy) who introduced me to a producer who introduced me to Naomi Marcella who introduced me to Foxxx Modeling.
"I'm only exclusive to [No Boundaries Entertainment] to direct, do anal and DP.
"I create a fantasy character called Gianna Lynn on-screen. I don't become her off-screen."
Duke: "Have you lost any friends over [porn]?"
Gianna: "Yes. A lot. It just shocked everybody. Everybody is like, 'Ohmigod, I can't believe she is doing that.' It's so taboo.
"You won't understand what it's like in the industry unless you're in it. Otherwise, it will always be a mystery.
"The friends that I lost, I used to be upset about it. I used to be heartbroken. I see it as a truthseeker. You will find out who your true friends are.
"It is surprising to me the people who have stayed friends. There are people who I expected to never talk to me again.
"I've had a few friends who started crying [when they found out Gianna was doing porn]. In those situations, you don't know what to do. 'I'm sorry, but I'm still going to do it. This is my path.'
"I don't do drugs. I don't party crazy. I stopped partying as much because of [porn]. You should take care of your body especially because it is going to get you work."
Duke: "How did your family react?"
Gianna: "They don't know. My [15yo] brother knows and a few cousins. My brother said, 'I still love you but that's disgusting.' Now he's over it. He jumps around and says, 'How was work today, ha ha?'"
Duke: "What do you think your parents will do when they find out?"
Gianna, her voice quiet: "I think they will disown me. They're really religious. I feel terrible. They still think that I'm working at my old job. It's hard for me to hide it because I'm never at work. My mom asked me a few days ago, 'Where do you get all this money to buy your stuff?' I was like, 'I'm a hard worker.'
"I just bought a new truck. A 2005 Dodge Ram with a heavy engine."
Gianna lost her virginity at 17 to her future fiance (a relationship of three years that ended a year ago). "He hates me now. I just had lunch with his best friends and [the friend] was telling me all these things he was saying. He calls me a whore.
"Please. At least I do it for the money. He does it for free. What's the difference? We're still having sex regardless. At least I'm being professional about it.
"He's a loser."
Duke: "Do you think he's renting your movies?"
Gianna laughs: "I know his mother's friends are.
"Yeah, I believe he's watching my movies right now."
Gianna says she hasn't dated anyone since she entered porn. "It's kinda sad. You feel lonely. I know I have to take care of myself first before I can take care of others. If I'm in a relationship, I'm faithful and I'm loyal and I devote all this attention to my boyfriend. I don't think I can do that now. I'm so driven. I want to focus on my career. I want to make good movies."
Gianna says she slept with fewer than ten guys before she entered porn.
Duke: "What do you do with your spare time? You must have more than ever before."
Gianna makes a guilty laugh. "I hang around. I have lunch with friends who work. I like to write in my journal. I like to enjoy life. I love days like this. I like taking walks in the park. I'm just a dork like that."
It's a sunny 70 degrees.
Gianna has six tattoos. She shows me one of a dragon. It's on her pelvis. She had it done over the name of her ex-fiance. "It symbolizes the wrath of a relationship," she says.
She keeps pointing. "I got this one last year when I was drunk in Miami."
Duke: "How did your parents react to your tattoos?"
Gianna: "They got used to it eventually. At first they were like, ohmigod, what have you done to your body? Now it's like, oh, another one."
Duke: "Do you find it addictive?"
Gianna: "Yes, but I can't get anymore. My agent says, if you didn't have all these tattoos, you'd be getting twice as much work. I say, they're me. What am I going to do?"
Ariana says "to be very gentle with the double anal."
Corey: "That's what they all say. You could take a Mac Truck up your ass with a trailer."
I interview Steve Turbo (doing his first scene) and Billy James outside. I ask them what they wanted to be when they grew up.
Billy, 31: "A police officer."
Steve, 22: "A porn star. Eversince I was a kid and saw the channels I wasn't supposed to see on TV."
Billy served as a police officer in the Marine Corp for five-and-a-half years. His father was a staff sergeant in the Army.
Ariana helped Billy and Steve get into the industry.
Billy works as a grip (lighting guy) on porn and non-porn sets. He likes porn because it's "easy money."
Billy says he's slept with over 200 women in his life. Steve (a financial planner) says over 80. They say they're not worried about what their families will say when they find out about the porn participation."
Duke to Steve: "What are your life ambitions?"
Steve: "It would be cool to be the next Ron Jeremy or John Holmes."
Avy Lee Roth says: "I would love to go on Howard Stern. I sent an email to the official website but I don't know if it went through. I know you have the contacts.
"I was talking to [Scott] Fayner. We became friends.
"Everybody left Naughty Models. I don't know. Tim doesn't return my emails. I guess they have new girls."
Duke: "How did your family react when you got into porn?"
Avy: "My mother didn't like it but she understands. I feel relieved."
Duke: "What about other relatives?"
Avy: "It is hard for them. I'm from a small town. People are assholes. I'm not a kid. I pay my bills. I take care of myself."
Chris (the brother of Tim, the owner of Naughty Modeling) had a severe car crash a month ago and he's gone on to another job.
Avy: "Chris wants to be a porn star. He was going to make a website with Anabolic. He was going to be Chester the Molester."
I surfed over to NaughtyModels.com and read this:
Real models that couldn't pay the rent, so they turned to the Internet, got naked and got paid! These are the same women you've see in TV commercials and magazines everywhere. You know, sometimes even the most beautiful models need a little extra money. (don't we all) But when these girls came up a little short we we're more that willing to pay them to get naked. So enjoy the photos and see just what these girls we're willing do for money!
I interview Corey Jordan, the front man (he has an investor or two behind him) for No Boundaries Entertainment.
He says he worked as a Chippendales dancer for a dozen years and that he's been in porn for nine.
Mark Davis was also a Chippendales dancer but I don't believe Corey and Mark knew each other then.
Corey (who's never performed sex on camera) grew up with the half-brothers David Joseph and Dion Giarusso (same mother, different fathers).
In 1986, he worked as a salesman for Tommy Sinnopoli's video company. Then he left porn for a decade.
Nine years ago, Corey's brother Dale (four years older) and Dion worked for Elegant Angel. They gave Corey a job with the camera and eventually Corey became an Elegant Angel director. "The rest is history. I took off. Directed for different companies. Then, about ten months ago, I opened up No Boundaries. We've shot 50 movies. We're released four a month.
"My tag line is: 'No hesitation. No rules. No boundaries.' I want to give it to the women and let them direct and come up with ideas."
Imdb.com has an entry on Corey:
1997 Middle Weight Sparring World Champion, 5th degree Black Belt in Karate and expert in Health Fitness and Martial Arts. Creator of the 'Danger Zone' self defence course for women.
He's appeared in such films as Batman Forever, Ring of Fire II: Blood and Steel, Dead Silence, Caged Fury, No Retreat, No Surrender.
Corey went to college to study business and psychology but he never got a degree.
Duke: "When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
Corey: "A gynecologist. I'm a gynecologist now, kinda."
Duke: "How does your family feel about your work?"
Corey: "They're cool. Open. My mom lives with me. I take care of her."
Corey is separated from Jill Kelly but they have not yet divorced.
Duke: "What's it like trying to have a relationship while working in this industry?"
Corey: "It's difficult. There's jealousy and insecurity. I'm very faithful when it comes to committing to a relationship. The [porn] girls are great but to me this is a business.
"My first two years in the business I was a slut.
"I respect women. My deal with everyone is: I don't judge."
Duke: "What do you love and what do you hate about working in this business?"
Corey: "I love to create. I love the industry for what it stands for -- education in sex. Everyone here teaches something to someone who's watching.
"What I hate? Sometimes talent cancel on me or we can't get things going smooth. It's a great business. We do nothing wrong."
Duke: "Are you in it for life?"
Corey: "I wouldn't go that far."
Duke: "What are the trends in porn?"
Corey: "The consumer likes it nasty. We can't give 'em enough. I'm not saying beat up women or abuse them. I'm saying nasty hot sex. Women that think nastier than men think. I believe these women do [Ariana Jollee, Gianna Lynn, Lauren Phoenix."
Duke: "What's the difference between a good porno and a bad one?"
Corey: "Whoever reviews it."
Today's cameraman boasts he's never missed a pop.
Tyce Bune has been married for 27 years last October. He put his wife in some porn films about eight years ago. She still gets fan mail.
Tyce has three boys (23, 25, 27) and two grandchildren. Two of them served in the Iraq War (one in the Marine and one in the Navy).
One was on a ship in the Meditteranean which launched missiles during the "Shock and Awe" phase. "They launched the Tomahawk missiles and then they ran in and watched CNN and watched them hit."
The other son served on the platoon that pulled down the famous statute
of Saddam Hussein in Baghdad.
I chat with Tyce Bune about the changes he's seen in his nine years in porn. "It's a lot more hardcore," he says. "When I came in, it was all features. Now gonzo rules the world."
Tyce has lost about 30 pounds since I saw him last (a couple of years ago).
I ask Tyce who so many porners smoke?
Bune: "It's sitting around on sets. It's either that or play Playstation."
Tyce's boys were in highschool when their father started working in porn. "At first it worked against them. Then it worked for them. Kids would come up to me at softball games and say, 'Hey, what's up pops? Did you work today?' They'd smile."
Tyce was an ordained minister for 16 years.
I ask Tyce: "Which do you prefer? Being a pastor or a porn star?"
He replies: "Being a pastor is a lot less headaches. This business is tough."
I overhear one porn star complain about another: "She said I used drugs. I owned my s---. Yeah, for a week, I did drugs. But it wasn't me who went to rehab at 14. It wasn't me who was tripping on Ecstasy two days before she left for Germany. Tripping on X. It's not acid, for G-d's sake."
I meet Trent Tesoro, 28. He tells a story about two years ago when, after taking a quaalude, along with large amounts of cocaine and beer and Xanax, he cleared out the fridge and crawled inside.
Scott Fayner, along with Kate Captive, found him.
We get Fayner on the line. He says he came over to Trent and told him that the air was circulating in the fridge and he'd be ok. After a few minutes, Trent crawled out.
Scott tells Trent he wanted to tell that story but he didn't out of respect.
Trent said he expected a monster when he met me but that I was mellow and had a good vibe.
Trent smiles a lot. He laughs a lot. He looks like an all-American kid. He's from Texas. He learned how to become a chef in Barcelona and worked in that profession for six years.
Tesoro lived next door to Fayner for a couple of years. One time when he was whacked out of his mind, he threatened Fayner with a beer bottle. It took a year to restore the relationship, Trent laughs. "We're totally cool now. I'm much more careful with narcotics these days. My mind is in the right place."
Trent got into porn three-and-a-half years ago. He's done about 400 porn movies. He's just returned from an eight month porn hiatus. He returned to Texas and worked as a chef.
Duke: "What was it like living next door to Fayner?"
Trent laughs. "I don't remember."
I tell Trent that Scott told me he doesn't get up until late in the afternoon. Trent says Fayner exaggerates his party lifestyle. He says Scott gets up at 6am every day to walk his dog.
Trent entered porn with his now ex-girlfriend Ashley Blue. "She'd answered an ad. She'd lost two jobs in a week. She was a waitress and a receptionist. She's going to kill me for this. I shouldn't talk about her. She doesn't like me."
Trent's dated many porn stars but he doesn't like to talk about it. He prefers to date civilians. With porn stars, "you might get a window of about three years where they are themselves. Then they change. It's a sad business.
"I've dated a lot of [porn] girls but it's hard to take them seriously. Ashley was probably the only one. I got carried away when we were together and just blew it. I was like a kid in the candy store.
"I don't think people should date within the industry. It's like football players dating cheerleaders. It's not a good idea. Keep it business.
"I've only dated two girls outside of the industry. The last one was turned on by it at first but by the end she was controlling and checking my messages... Now I'm dating a dancer. She's like me. She can have sex like a guy. She can separate [love from sex]. We don't tell each other that we love each other."
They've been friends for eight months but only having sex for a month.
Trent says his family is "cool and understanding. I'm blessed. There were different reactions. My mom is don't-ask, don't-tell. My grandfather cracked up. My uncle loved it and bought my first Hustler."
He first moved to Los Angeles to work at the restaurant Patina.
Duke: "What do you love and hate about working in porn?"
Trent: "I love all of it except the gossip and bulls---. Your s---.
"I'm doing well. My head's in the right place. I'm doing good scenes. I don't get involved [in the bulls---]. I don't go to parties."
Duke: "How long do you want to stay in the industry?"
Trent: "Until I can afford a house in Spain. I want to open a restaurant. This industry has made me impatient. I see this opportunity for money. You just have to have some focus. My first two years [in porn], the reason I was doing stupid s--- was that I wasn't taking it seriously. It's work."
Duke: "How has porn changed you?"
Trent: "I wonder about that sometimes. I think I've come full circle. For a while, I was a party guy. Now I'm back to myself.
"It's definitely an art. I've learned how to make girls squirt. My girlfriend now has never squirted before. She didn't know what it was. You get better at [sex]."
Trent lost his virginity at 12. "I had a dry spell from 12 until 16."
Trent hung out with punk rockers in highschool. "I went to shows every weekend. The bad crowd. I was a conservative rebel."
Duke: "Do you find yourself forming an emotional connection with girls you do scenes with?"
Trent: "Somewhat. You fall in and out of love fast. On a base level. I think that's necessary. I'm not good at doing gonzo. I've got to have a little something."
Duke: "Who's your favorite guy to do double anal with?"
Trent: "I'm not going to answer that. I don't even like to do double anal. It's a circus trick.
"Some guys don't know how to f---. You don't want to f--- a girl with just anybody."
Duke: "How has having sex with hundreds of women affected you?"
Trent: "I can still fall in love. [Most of that sex] was just for fun. I don't have a problem being monogamous outside of the business. But if I slipped or she slipped, I don't think the other person would mind too much. As long as at the end of the day we're together.
"I've had relationships in the past that were too open but it just f----- it up. It just gets confusing and complicated.
"What was your question? Why are you doing this?"
Duke: "I write a column on lukeisback.com."
Trent laughs. "So this is a big deal."
Avy Lee Roth asks me for AVN Editor Mike Ramone's number. I don't know it but suggest she email him at ramone@avn.com.
Avy: "I'm starting eating again and I'm getting a belly."
I overhear Genesis Skye say: "I do everything but interracial and internal cum shots."
Trent gets offended when he's told he looks like male performer Jenner. "I'm much better looking," Trent says.
"Now don't write that. I work with that guy."
Trent says he's not a drug addict. He's ok now. He's focused. Nobody should think he's a drug addict because he's not. That was a long time ago. He's a different man now.
Dick Tracy Interview
Dick Tracy Dick Tracy Dick Tracy Dick Tracy
We talk Tuesday afternoon on the set of Ariana Jollee: No Holes Barred.
We're standing outside. There's a group of porners around us who chime in at times or laugh or look askance.
Our interview turns into a performance.
I should've gone Ali G and asked Dick what he'd like to say to his large gay fan base.
Duke: "When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
Dick: "A baseball player."
Duke: "What did your family expect from you?"
Dick: "This. My dad said to me, 'You get so many girls over you might as well do porn.'"
Tracy lost his virginity at 14 and he says he had sex with about 200 girls by the time he was 18.
Duke: "Was it your good looks or your personality?"
Dick: "Probably."
Duke: "What kind of crowd did you hang out with in highschool?"
Dick: "A lot of surfers, skaters. Your typical Orange County people."
Tracy graduated highschool in 1993 with a 3.8 GPA.
Duke: "What happened to your once-promising future?"
Dick: "I went to UNLV for four years and got a degree in computer science. I owned my own website company. Made half-a-million dollars a year. I got divorced (after three years) and I started doing porn."
Duke: "How does your ex-wife feel about you being a porn star?"
Dick: "She never shuts her big f---ing mouth about it. I have to talk to her. I have a child."
Duke: "Does she like your career in porn?"
Dick: "She has some of my movies."
Another guy: "She likes the money you send her every month."
Duke: When will you return to computer science?
Dick: "I've designed a couple of science but I don't plan on going back to that."
Duke: "Do you think pornography is a more promising future than computers?"
Dick: "It was for me. I'm not sitting in front of a computer screen all day long listening to people's stupid cracks. This is a lot easier for me. I like having sex and I like being paid well. [Porn] has its pitfalls."
Duke: Such as?
Dick: "STDs. You can't have a regular relationship with somebody outside of the business. Most of the time people say they can handle it, then they can't stand you packing your bag every day and going off to f--- some other girl and then coming home. They like the pay check but there's always that five minute spot when you leave. 'You're going to f--- your whore today.'
"I tried it. It didn't work. So I don't date outside the business."
Duke: "Who do you date inside the business?"
Dick: "Lots of people."
Duke: "What are the joys and sorrows of dating porn stars?"
Dick: "The joys are you have an adventurous sex life. And if the girl you're with is a decent name, that'll make you money. You'll get more work that way."
He seems defensive. "That shouldn't be the reason you're doing that.
"The downside is that you have people who are supposed to be your friend who, if they're not f---ing your girlfriend on-camera, are trying to do it off-camera.
"A lot of the women turn into the hooker mentality where it's almost like if you want to have some intimacy with your girlfriend, you have to buy them something or take them somewhere."
Duke: "How did you transition from computers to pornography?"
Dick: "Craven Morehead. I met him in Orange County when I was 14. We played in bands. After I got divorced, I went to a concert by a friend of mine's band. He was there. I was an amateur bodybuilder. I had a reputation in Orange County for being not small in the penis department. He remembered that. He said, 'Dude, you should do porno.'
"He gave me his card. I looked at his card for two weeks before I called him."
Tracy did his first porn scene in 2000. He's done close to 600 scenes since.
Duke: "What do you love and hate about working in porn?"
Dick: "I love girls like Ariana Jollee and I hate girls like Kelly Taylor [his ex-girlfriend]."
Duke: "Who's Kelly Taylor?"
Dick: "Some blonde bimbo with a bad tit job and a bad nose job."
Ariana: "Be nice."
Dick: "I love being able to set your own schedule. You can work as much or as little as you like. The money is good. I hate the gossip and rumors. I know you do your thing... When people hear a lie and automatically assume it's the truth. That sucks. You don't automatically have a chance to defend yourself. One person says something and it goes everywhere."
Duke: "How did your family react?"
Dick: "They were cool with it. The only one who wasn't, and I thought she would be, was my sister. She got mad because she and her husband rented three pornos pay-per-view in their hotel room and I was in every one of them, so they couldn't watch. She called me up all pissed off. 'You ruined everything.'"
Duke: "Which part of your work do you find the most meaningful?"
Dick: "Meaningful? I don't know. I can't really say that it's meaningful."
Steve Turbo returns triumphant from his first scene.
Trent Tesoro says that when he was a kid, he wanted to be a writer.
Dick says he probably could've become a professional baseball player. "I was the top pitcher in Orange County for four years. I had USC try to draft me into a full scholarship. I had a band that had a record deal at the time and hair down to my ass. I didn't want to cut my ass. I thought I was going to be a rock star like a dumbass. I chose that [rock] route. I got quickly f---ed over.
"I wanted the money and the glory without the work [of becoming a professional baseball player]. I threw my arm out a couple of times."
Avy Lee Roth: "I'm going to make a film like Lords of Dogtown but in porn [1970s-style]. The girls are going to be on skateboards with music from the 1970s. I have a secret funder."
Duke: "Who's going to direct it?"
Avy: "Me. Plus I'm going to have help from a ghost friend at AVN. I can't tell you who. Like Mike Ramone. It's secret."
I hear Bridgett Kerkove runs the most tightly-organized quick-moving sets. She can get five scenes done by 3:30pm and then go home to her kids. She says she's the most highly paid Metro director ever.
She'll get on the phone and tell her friends about her problems with her ex-husband Skeeter Kerkove.
We talk Tuesday afternoon on the set of Ariana Jollee: No Holes Barred.
She's been in porn for eight years and describes herself as a "big whore."
She qualifies: "I'm not a hooker. I do it because I like it."
Trent Tesoro is intimidated by the five page release form. "They're like tests. I get answers wrong. It's a lot of pressure."
Venus leafs through the release. "I should read it," she admits. "I have no idea what they're saying in here."
I lie down beside her and we get comfy.
I say in my most confidential and intimate voice, as though for the first time: "When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
Venus: "I changed my mind all the time, but I wanted to be a marine biologist because I like fish. But I sucked at math and science. I've always liked writing. I still do.
"I've always wanted to be a model."
Duke: "What did your family expect you to become?"
Venus: "Nothing."
Duke: "How old were you when you lost your virginity?"
Venus: "Fourteen."
Duke: "Your boyfriend? A family member?"
She laughs. "I knew that was coming. Not a boyfriend. A football player in highschool."
She left home at 15.
She spent her first 18 years living up and down the East Coast. Then she moved to Las Vegas and then Los Angeles at 19. "I started doing magazine stuff for a year. I took everything slow. I did girl-girl for a couple of years. Then boy-girl."
Venus says she's never dated anyone inside the industry. She says she had kids with an asshole and stayed with him for five years.
Duke: "How did your family react to your becoming a porn star?"
Venus: "My parents are Southern Baptist so we don't mention it. We ignore it. It doesn't exist. Don't ask."
Duke: "Did you go to church every week growing up?"
Venus: "Three or four times a week."
Duke: "So what happened?"
Venus: "I had too much church. I never made it back."
Duke: "What are your life ambitions?"
Venus: "To see the world. To be content with me as a person. I want to create at least one masterpiece of art in this business."
Duke: "What part of your work do you find most meaningful?"
That stumps her for ten seconds. "Oh G-d. Porn is a certain stress release. It suits me. I pay my bills. I enjoy what I do. That's it."
I hear a yell from the bedroom. Genesis Skye has a chipped tooth. Trent was slamming her mouth down on him and he got cut in a sensitive area.
He cleans up and goes back to work.

Black Widow Productions sponsored Tuesday night's event.
Owner Ric Williams had to buy $80,000 worth of software, put an employee fulltime on the matter, and devote countless hours and worries to becoming 2257 compliant. The task is far from over. Many websites have pulled Black Widow content until the company is fully 2257 compliant ( this is causing an increase in BW's DVD sales).
Black Widows contract girl Mallou is back in Denmark applying for a Green Card so she can legally work in American porn.
No major production companies that Ric is aware of are shooting foreign talent who don't have a Green Card.
Ric says the new 2257 regulations add at least 5% to the cost of doing business.
Ric is on the line because his company releases urination and bukkake DVDs.
Ric's looking for a new girlfriend. After two months with the last one, she finally asked him exactly what type of movies he distributes. He said the type you only watch in the bedroom. She said that was gross and she was outta there.
Robyn tells me again that she's a nice Jewish girl. That she was Orthodox until she was 18 and a virgin until 20. She went to Valley Torah Academy and Sharey Tzeddek synagogue. Now she follows me around all night.
This is Ron Sullivan's first night at PSK. He remembers an industry karaoke night ten years ago off of Roscoe in Canoga Park. It was porners and bikers. Tom Byron sang.
He's with the Venus Girls crew including Lorraine (who's back with the company after a two-week dramafest), Matt (the investor) and Jay (PA).
Lorraine had three glasses of white wine, one too many.
Every week I see Larry. He says he's not a fan. He's family. Almost every day he sends out heartfelt greeting cards to porn stars such as Jenna Jameson, Ashton Moore, and Lexi Lamour. He tells them that he will be their devoted friend until the day he dies.
He shows me and a dozen people an email thank-you he just got from Ashton.
Seymour, Sardos's owner, comes over and tells Ethan (Lexi Lamour, Ethan Cage): "Hands off the merchandise."
"I bought 'em!" responds Ethan. "I worked a real job to get the things."
Thirty minutes later, Ethan and Lexi step outside to smoke. I interview them.
Duke: "Lexi, when you were a girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
Lexi: "I wanted to be a Vegas showgirl.
"I grew up outside of Chicago. I've been a dancer since I was five years old. Now I just do it and take my clothes off at the same time.
"[Ethan] wanted to be a cop."
Ethan: "Once I had sex for the first time [at age 14], I wanted to be a porn star."
Duke: "Do you wish now that you have saved that for the love of your life?"
Ethan: "No."
Duke to Lexi: "What were you expected to become?"
Lexi: "I was expected to become a stripper. My mom always knew. She was a go-go dancer when they had the cage dancing.
"After 15 years of dance classes, what else could you become [but a stripper]?"
Duke to Ethan: "What were you expected to become?"
Ethan: "An inmate. I was a bad kid."
He was scared straight when he was first arrested at age 17.
Duke: "What kind of crowd did you hang out with in highschool?"
Ethan: "Bad."
Lexi: "Real bad."
Ethan: "I was kicked out three credits short [of graduating]."
Lexi: "I was the good girl. I went to college. He corrupted me."
She laughs.
Lexi got her marketing degree from Purdue in Indiana. "What better way to market than to market myself?"
Lexi and Ethan have known each other since they were five. They first hooked up in their senior year at highschool. They've been together eversince (12 years).
Lexi: "The way we look at it is humanly possible to be monogamous. So why not do it in a controlled atmosphere and get paid for it?"
Lexi began working as a stripper at age 20.
After highschool, Ethan "tried to be a mechanic. But that was filthy, disgusting work."
Lexi: "It made my sheets dirty."
Ethan: "Then she started feature dancing and I started traveling with her. Then two years ago we moved here..."
Lexi: "And have been porn stars eversince. We had mutual friends in the industry -- Felicia and Jessica Drake."
I run into Penthouse Pet (August 1998 when she was 20) Aimee Sweet, who's come outside with her husband to have a cigarette.
Duke: "When you were a girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?"
Aimee: "Out of Rhode Island.
"I wanted to be an actress, or at one point, I wanted to be an ACLU lawyer.
"I was a late bloomer. I was into theater, sports, student council, honors student. I was a little virginal girl. I'd smoke pot and drink beer with the guys. I was a good Catholic girl. My parents were very involved. They came to every softball game, every school play.
"I moved to California at age 19 with $500 in my pocket and no car."
Aimee operates her own site, AimeeSweet.com (launched in May 1999), with Dreamweaver. She also has ModelCash.com.
Aimee: "When I first started, the internet was like the Wild Wild West. You could bill members $40 a month and not update. Now I bill $24 a month, but I do chat every day. I do webcam shows. I update my members forum every day. I put way more effort in than I ever did. I never thought I'd work this hard. I never thought I'd be a computer nerd.
"I like to go to the internet shows. I'm not a porn star per se. I've done adult films but they're all soft.
"I have Angel Cassidey in my program. I'm going to have Nikita Lee, Justine Jolie [and any model whose last name ends in an eeeeee sound]."
Duke: "So you're not going to be doing hardcore to get money for cocaine?"
She laughs.
Aimee's husband (John D) of six-and-a-half-years (they've been together nine) looks on amused. He says he reads my site every day. He runs Dannicash.com.
Aimee: "We're both computer nerds. I just happen to look good in pictures."
Duke: "Are you still active with Penthouse?"
Aimee: "I haven't talked to them since the new owners took over. I'm still trying to get a box of fricken' magazines out of them. They're like, 'We're not giving out any back issues right now.'"
Sweet sells autographed copies of her issue of Penthouse for $30.
Aimee: "I'm all scared of interviewing with you. Oh s---, what's going to be on your blog tomorrow?"
Duke: "Did your parents come to your Penthouse shoot?"
Aimee: "No. I was so afraid to tell my parents that I stopped talking to them for a month. I was crying myself to sleep thinking I was going to get disowned. My mom knew something was up. She said, 'I heard you were in those movies.' I said, no, I was just in Penthouse. She said, oh, ok. She went out and bought it. My little Catholic mom from Rhode Island. She was completely supportive.
"I'm really proud of what I do.
"I never thought I was pretty. On the East Coast, no one compliments you or tells you nice things."
Duke: "How did you [take your clothes off]?"
Aimee: "When I was 19, I had all these friends who were 21 who didn't think I could do it. So, [to show them] I got up there [in San Diego] and danced.
"I had a girlfriend who was approached by a modeling scout. I was there [and he didn't pay any attention to Aimee]. She asked me to give her a ride to LA. I'm like, ok, I've never been.
"My boyfriend and I drove her up there and they only wanted to shoot me. I said no. Suze Randall took Polaroids of me and sent them to Penthouse. Suze said, I want to shoot you for Penthouse. I said no. Then I said yes."
Duke: "How did your life change after you appeared in Penthouse?"
Aimee: "I was so young. I cared too much about what people thought of me. I lived in San Diego. Everybody there was spoiled. They were rich. They'd say, 'I'd never take my clothes off for money.' Then five minutes later, they'd be in the bathroom and guys would be doing lines of coke off their ass. Everybody was all judgmental on me.
"I was in a serious relationship. That was my way of expressing myself without being promiscuous.
"I'm totally down with promiscuity but it's not something I could ever do."
Duke: "How does your husband handle your being a sex goddess?"
Aimee: "He encouraged it."
Duke: "What are your ambitions?"
Aimee: "I'd like to be a respected woman on the web like Leslie Sharp of Vivid."
Wankus and Kristen put on a five-minute show at 11pm.
"Imagine there was no 2257," sings Wankus. "No Bush or Christians. Only teen cream.
"Imagine there's no drama and all of us get along. No jealous hate, no fighting. Imagine all the porn stars..."
The lyrics become so obscene, I can't quote them in good conscience. And to hear such things coming out of the pure virginal mouth of Kristen, someone who is only sweetness and light, and to see and hear her dragged down by that brute Wankus, isn't Tyler Faith enough for him?
I can't stop this shooting anymore
I've forgotten what I started shooting for
It's time to take this ship into the shore
And throw away the oars forever
