Luke: "What were you doing on the Maury Povich Show?"

AVN Publisher Tim Connelly Cleans House

Tim Connelly today fired Tod Hunter from AVN. On Monday, Tim fired Wayne Hentai, the DVD editor. Tim wants to bring in his own people.

Tod was a non-controversial, non-confrontational writer. He has a high IQ and a deep knowledge of pop culture. He used to work on the gameshow Jeopardy. He will be missed by many in porn. Tod was a regular at the show now called "DP Tonight" at Digital Playground twice a month.

At first, Tod was thrilled with Connelly taking over as editor and publisher. After a while, Tod became blase. Tod struck Connelly as bored and ready to move on. The stress of working at AVN was killing Tod.

Tod and Tim did not have any clashes.

Tim keeps a short leash. AVN is now a tighter ship, a tenser place, since Connelly took over.

I've not had a chance to communicate with Tod Hunter in weeks.

I remember I first met him on a Saturday afternoon in, I think, July, 1997, at a mansion on Mulholland Drive. It was a Zane orgy with hundreds of people looking on, that was busted up by the LAPD. Tod was running around in bare feet, decrying the police crackdown. Helicopters buzzed overhead.

I suspect that Connelly will shift AVN's focus from features to hard-edged gonzo.

Many suspect this firing will motivate Tod Hunter to go on to do better things. Some are shocked that Heidi Pike is still there and that Mikey Ramone has allowed himself to be castrated. Like Ramone, it was Wayne Heintai's dream job. He was like a pig in slop around all those porn girls.
