The story involves an adult clothing and novelty company (Lacey's Secrets) that makes house calls.

I walk up at 9:45 AM, smelling bacon. Is what's going on here even more trafe than the pork?

I enter the Encino Hills mansion and find director Jim Enright. His wife, redheaded ex-porn star Shanna McCullough, serves as the production manager.

A couple of years ago, Jim left his ex-porn star wife Brittany, and soon after hooked up with Shanna. They married in early November, 2001. Brittany's sister is Paula Price, who is way out of the business, happily married and the mother of two.

Brittany's mother caters today's set. Jim has a much closer relationship with his mother-in-law than he does with Brittany.

Mother caters a lavish spread. There's donuts and fruit and salad and cashew nuts and cinammon rolls. I have some of each around noon.

Jim checks with porn star Africa (formerly Jada), Tony Eveready's ex-girlfriend, about Video Team's policy with condoms. The company, like VCA, is condom optional. Jim's used to shooting for Wicked, which is condom mandatory.

I first met Jim, and his ex-wife Brittany, on a Wicked set in April 1996.

VCA and Video Team, along with Vivid, led the industry into mandating condoms during the HIV-hysterical days of 1998.

I overhear Randy Spears, who entered porn in 1984, say he's transitioning into other things, and expects to be out of porn within two years. He's working in mainstream entertainment. Entertainment is in his blood.

It's the first time we've met.

Randy's ex-wife Danielle Rogers, an ex-porn star, lives in Colorado with her kids.

I ask Randy, one of the best actors in porn, about his reaction to Jerry Butler's book. Randy says it was unnecessarily cruel, though not to him. If the only way you can make your book be interesting by being cruel, it would be better not to publish, says Randy. Many people have asked him to write a book but Randy feels challenged enough writing a script, let alone a book.

I watch Shanna give Jim a close hug and a kiss. It's not your typical director - production manager relationship.

Most of the crew wears black Video Team t-shirts.

Aria performs an enthusiastic scene with Randy in the bathtub. She squeals loudly. She says her cries are real. She says she has genuine orgasms on camera.

A crew member says to Aria: "Hasn't anyone told you that only men come in these movies?"

Aria, from Portugese descent, eats about six meals a day. She munches on tuna and crackers after her scene. "I crave salt and sugar when I'm pre and post-menstrual," she says. "And before and after sex.

"Normally I have five egg-whites with salsa and steak in the morning, a cup of oatmeal, fruit and a glass of milk. Then I work out for an hour. After that, I'm famished. So I have a protein shake. I'm a Baja Fresh junkie. I get their Fajita platters. I don't eat the fajitas. I eat the steak and beans. I eat carbohydrates after 5PM."

Aria says she's never received a bad check from a porner. She only does features now. "If they're going to put up enough money to do a feature, they're going to have enough money to back up their checks. I only go to one shoot a day. I love being on set all day, seeing everybody. Usually features are of a better quality. Sometimes with a gonzo, you have someone who doesn't know how to shoot you. We all have our bad angles. Ask the reviewers. You shouldn't ever read adult reviews, because the guys are all evil."

Aria then retracts and gives a long explanation about a reviewer who repeatedly rips her. She says she respects different tastes. She doesn't take it personally. She takes it as a learning experience. "I'm an exhibitionist."

Steve Ochs, three months into his stay with AVN, and Julian Patrick, from www.AINews.com, stop by. I schmooze with them in the kitchen. What is the best type of food to eat before rigorously watching a sex scene? Steve prefers a high-protein repaste. Julian, who writes the column "First Man In Report", says: "I usually like to eat something light before a big sx scene. Some fruit, cheese, or vegetables. No pasta or turkey. The worst thing that a journalist can do is fall asleep while covering the action."

Julian once ate heavily and then fell asleep on a Vivid shoot. Was it the food or the action?

Aria has been working and earning money since the age of seven. She kept seeing things as a child that she wanted. Her parents told her - they cost money, you have to earn it yourself.

Aria will appear on another edition of VH1's Porn to Rock November 19th. She starred with Stephanie Swift in the Wicked movie Making It. "We performed five original songs. The one I did was Joan Jett style - not the best for me. He wrote the song for me. Then when I got there to record it, he'd rewritten the song. I had an hour to learn it all over."

The still photographer on today's shoot went into diabetic shock a couple of months ago. He didn't know he had diabetes. He doesn't have health insurance, like many in the industry. He's ok now.

Many companies are shooting now so that they will have production for the big annual show in Las Vegas in early January.

Africa and John Ashley, from Canada, come down after their sex scene. Africa now lives in Alabama. She grew up in Arkansas. While driving through Oklahoma recently, she was pulled over by white policemen even though she was driving the speed limit. She believes it was harassment based on her skin color - black.

Africa tells John to give her his phone number. "If I'm ever doing another anal, I will try to book you. Most guys only think of their own pleasure but you were different."

John and Guy DeSilva say they prefer to do gonzo than features. With gonzo, there's no crew, less waiting around, and little dialogue. You f--- and leave.

Byron Long and Africa say they will never work together because they have mutual friends. It's too long a story to explain to me.

Byron: "Read the book."

Luke: "What book?"

Byron: "The book I haven't written yet."

I meet Caramel of www.caramelonline.com. She's been in porn five years. She's beautiful and charming and I take 50 pictures of her.

Lacey Duvalle has been under contract with Video Team for two years.

Matt, the cameraman, has been in porn 14 years. He asks Jim for how he wants the Lacey - Guy sex scene.
